Elite Dangerous is currently in Chapter 1 of the Beyond expansion, patch number 3.0. It comes free with the Horizons expansion and aims to focus on refining core gameplay and new content and continues to fall short.
Thargoids have crippled AEGIS-related starports in the Pleiades and are now appearing in human space. Be aware that while the Targoid Interceptors are not normally hostile, Scout Marauders absolutely are. Starport repair requirements have been reduced to 10% of their original values and may actually be feasible now.

There really needs to be a dorky as fuck ship called the penguin.

How long till SC fails?
I give 2019. Roberto declares bankruptcy, "SC was always a big risk guys. That's what you signed up for when you backed" yet somehow manages to pitch a new game Citizen:Star, to which the shitizens flock.

Bust that BGS.
Alexander Martinez
Won't be his first (nor last) time he'll say it. Right now he's got his hopes up with the Crytek lawsuit but if that one fails he'll fall back to his, "I've always said it'll get worse" blank excuse when something else comes up.
Jackson Young
>get interdicted by pirate in shieldless cargo ship >immediately hit exit to main menu and take no damage as pirate countdown is nearly same length as dangerous menu exit >this is intended behaviour >if I don't do this and die I can claim my rebuy back from frontier support by saying I could have logged but didn't Masterful design.
Anthony King
Who the fuck can't escape NPC interdiction?
Noah Rogers
>bothering to escape Its faster to submit and boost and if its big enough to masslock just exit to main menu or high-wake if you're not in your destination system.
Ian Perry
Wait, why the fuck is it still 6:1 to trade materials of the same grade? Jesus fucking Christ, they seriously can't do anything without doing it wrong, can they?
Chase Jones
Why the fuck does it take MORE materials to go down in grades?! That's not how that works!

>accidentally shot a ship a second before getting wanting status >4 FUCKING SECURITY ANACONDAS blast him into oblivion and get murder. >4 hours and still can't pay off the fucking bounty. this is bullshit
Brody Bennett
You have to go to an Interstellar Factors contact to pay off the bounty.
Angel Brooks
i'm already there and it says i can't because my notoriety is too high. its bullshit i been sitting here for hours waiting

>Right now he's got his hopes up with the Crytek lawsuit I know the MTD probably wont be granted but by god could you imagine the wailing and nashing of teeth if it was granted. He'd probably threaten to sue the judge.
Oliver Campbell
Finished the Ceos grind and got a Corvette.
Any recommendations for outfitting?
Luis Miller
Yeah a ship's heat capacity and dissipation rate is one of the things that's fixed per ship and you can't change.
Jack Ward
So did anyone of you hear about or donate to "The Mandate" do you think that its fate will also happen to SC and/or ED?
Lincoln Rodriguez
Go ask Dr Smrt, he gave cash to that as well as Shroud of the Avatar.
Benjamin Russell
>not doing your trading in a Cutter and just facefucking the NPC instantly with frags and pack hounds
Thomas Wright
Efficient Oversized huge PAs because absolute damage bruh Efficient TLB large (A)PA for pure PVP annoyance rapid fire/overcharged 1corrosive 1drag medium frag cannons Long range feedmeme cascade smol railguns
PAs+rails against shields frags+Pas against hull APA for PVP constantly firing
Carter Reed
>The Mandate I remember checking it out in its infancy when they had that browser-based ship damage demo. That was neat. I just looked it up, though, and it looks like they're fucking dead.

>mining missions disabled Is painite exploit finally kill?
Oliver Turner
>Mission Removal Edition Fuck. I was hoping oxleygate would keep their attention off mining missions awarding more mining commodities in return. Typical Frontier to completely miss that on their own though, or even have basic test tools in place to detect glaring edge cases.
Bentley Thomas
how to distinguish planet types in system map? My buddy claims you can "listen" to them.
Oliver Peterson
> > I remember seeing threads about listening to them and apparently it's true. Google it and you can find threads about them.
Bentley Robinson
Each type makes a different sound while selected. If you listen closely to an earthlike you can hear blowing breeze and chirping birds. Water worlds bubble, etc...
Robert Gonzalez
how to hit shit with PAs on a big slow ship pls teach
Elijah Phillips
Do D-class shield boosters still get the bonus mod compared to As or did they remove that with the new engineering updates? Glad I still have some legacy ones...
Adrian Perry
Step 1. Add PAs to hardpoints and make fire groups that line them up with each other as well as possible. Step 2. ...........git gud.............
Lincoln Barnes
Fuck this shit. i will just fuck off to somewhere else in the universe. maybe kill people around here considering it won't let me pay my bounty anyway. should i go to empire or alliance territory?
Bentley Price
god damn the FDL's cockpit is the worst fucking thing
Logan Hernandez
Empire is bigger and has better trade opportunities.
Connor Wilson
Just strut my shit up mang.

Just bought a Python. I have no idea what type of weapons to put on it. Right now I have 2 large burst lasers, 1 large multicannon and 2 medium seeker missile racks. I've not used missiles in actual ship combat before but apparently they're good at blowing out external modules once shields are down? Giv advice pls.
John Williams
Get shields down with lasers, then fire missiles.
Asher Morales
Yes I know that but is that a good weapon loadout or should I switch to something better? I'm terrible at combat so fixed weapons are right out but would I be better off replacing the missiles with something else? More lasers? More dakka?
David Ramirez
Missiles are fine if you're not expecting to be in combat for extended periods of time.
Andrew Torres
I'm not expecting to take this into a RES or CZ, I just want something to deal with the NPC pirates that keep interdicting me.
Jeremiah Hernandez
As much beam laser as you can fire without melting, then missiles.
Dylan Kelly
Why rapid fire frags, exactly? Is it because the jitter will increase the spread and increase the chances of corrosive/drag proccing?
Adam Barnes
Missiles are good for that, they're a high amount of potential damage with the tradeoff being low ammo capacity. Not great for extended res site farming unless you want to show off, but good for short term defense/assassination situations.
Luke Sanchez
holy crap with grade 5 dirty drives the dropship is WAY MORE FUN. im drifting like a madman around the big ships while raining down bullets with multicannons
Alexander Turner
What's wrong with Plasma Chargers? Sometimes they do massive dmg, or very little. Definitely below what is stated, especially if they do absolute dmg...
Carter Baker
Is it worth it to put extended range on an FDL's FSD? Or should I just do boot time and stripped to minimize mass.
Jackson Cruz
Are you outside the damage falloff range?
Jeremiah Jackson
...
Oliver Brown
What would you ever need extra range on a combat ship for? You can build a taxi to travel with and have your ship ferried so you never need to worry about traveling in a combat loaded ship.
Evan Gutierrez
about to land a conda on a 2.0 gravity world am i gonna die
Ryan White
I'd put all power to shields before you get too close.
Elijah Evans
I know this soynds retarded but I use 2 turret burst lasers on the top 2 large hardpoints.
2 medium rails, one with cascade feedback.
The bottom large I use a gimbled multicannon.
The turrets do enough damage to kill the shields and the rails can pop their shield cell banks.
Then finish them off with the multicannon.
Elijah Cook
Alright, some quick questions:
I was fitting my first ASP for exploration and got to 31 ly. I dicked around with weapons on the hard points and 4 pulse lasers and 2 missile launchers only take off like 0.2 ly. All the Asp builds I've seen have 0 hard points and sometimes even no shield. Is it seriously worth it to give up all your offensive capabilities for 0.2 extra jump range? You s there some other benefit of not having weapons?
Also, I went exploring in a type 6 for shits and giggles, (fairly short little trip) and got to thinking: is there even anything to find? Like, could I encounter ruins, or some secret stuff Farr off from the bubble or is there nothing to find besides stars and planets and such? Don't get me wrong I still love exploring even if there isn't much to it.
I installed a repair module onto my Asp and rammed into a rock just to see how to use it. I noticed you can repair everything but the power plant and the repair module itself. Is there a way to repair the power plant at all? Can I repair a repair module if I install a second?
And finally, how does one get good at combat. PvE but mostly PvP. I have mostly stuck to solo, and the NPCs are easy enough but I still loose them for longer than I should. I can tell a competent player could rip me apart if he wanted to. How do I get good?
Ryder Carter
Nope, most of the time I fire from 750-500m.
I've been in situations with the same ship (a viper mk4 for example), where one shot wont hurt a ring of shields, and the next the shield is completely taken down.
Brody Anderson
The asp is a decent explorer and a terrible combat ship. So people kit it out with exploration in mind.
Finding shit is probably not going to happen unless you know its there before hand. Your talking about billions of stars and more planets.
You can repair another afms with a 2nd.
The powerplant is your exploration healthbar it can't be repaired with a station. There are usually remote stations out in the blavk wherever you go.
Combat is mostly ship plus engineering with a bit of skill to separate the good players from everyone else.
Jack Mitchell
Awesome, thanks for helping out. So I might as well leave the weapons on then since a 0.2 reduction is all I suffer.
Also, how exactly does engineering work? I get they can upgrade modules but there are RNG effects applied to the new modules? I would really like to try out resonating cascade torpedoes but I get the sinking feeling that unlocking them is going to take weeks
Jack Rodriguez
Who are you going to shoot in the middle of nowhere?
Brayden White
>Awesome, thanks for helping out. So I might as well leave the weapons on then since a 0.2 reduction is all I suffer.
The opposite is true, though. The Asp is not a combat ship, especially when fitted for exploring. If you plan on going exploring there is literally no reason to ever fire your weapons, let alone having any mounted.
Jaxson Russell
>weapons there is literally no reason to have weapons out there besides feeling like a tough guy
William Diaz
yeah you don't need weapons.
But the most dangerous times for exploration vessels is the way back to habitable space, so I have a solution for you.
Call Iridium Wing, its a group of players that escort explorers back to habitable space, free of charge. Basically fuel rats, with less fuel and more guns.
Wait, I thought that meant the "Around the Verse (I loathe using that fucking term)" episode was coming out tomorrow, not a patch.
Aaron Green
>I might as well leave the weapons on then since a 0.2 reduction is all I suffer. Your call. There's nothing out there to shoot that you could actually defeat in an exploration-fitted Asp though.
>I get they can upgrade modules but there are RNG effects applied to the new modules Effects aren't RNG anymore. You just buy them with materials now. Bonuses and penalties are also fixed for each tier of upgrade now. The random part is in how many sets of materials it takes to max out each tier.
>I get the sinking feeling that unlocking them is going to take weeks You at the very least want to get Felicity or Elvira unlocked regardless. They can boost your jump range 50%.
Josiah Carter
Oh I think you are right, my mistake.

Isaiah Gomez
>reading comprehension Shit was first on the nerfing block, broseidon.
Brody Kelly
There is no reason to assume the motion won't be granted. Why the fuck is it taking so long though?
Anthony Campbell
You thought wrong bitchtard, even though the current thead is 99% elite, which is fucking unprecedented.
Andrew Nguyen
It is dead and unplayable, that's why the thread is all ED.
Ethan Howard
SC has only two states; dead, and unplayablle. It is never both, but always one.
Isaac Gray
ED gets a burst of activity whenever a new patch or sploit comes out. What's unprecedented is the cultists being nearly silent in the meantime when they still don't have a game to distract them from shitposting all day.
Ayden Ortiz
Oh boy I can't wait to hear more about finances, business practices and an antagonistic nigger instead of anything to do with an actual video game in this here video game general.
