You don't have separate ranks for normal and PTR.
PTR just takes a snapshot of your account every now and then (don't know how often) and shows that in the PTR, so any icon, skin selections, level and borders, stuff like that, will always just be whatever you had a few weeks or months ago.
So if someone's already gold-border in the regular game, it'll show up more or less the same in PTR.

That's not true, I was level 25 when I first opened PTR and months in it's only level 29 now because I only leveled up 4 times playing it over the months, it never updated to my level from the base game.

so why the fuck would they make that cinematic? you don't just set the stage for something huge and then refuse to progress the story. chu has created the diablo and warcraft universes so it's not like he's incapable of doing something decent with overwatch. considering he (presumably) has a team behind him, why else would they hold back on any form of lore unless they were saving it for something big? he even juggled brigitte from being torbs oldest daughter to his youngest. why would he do something like that unless he was actively tweaking the plot to be shaped around some other factor, perfecting the lore as a whole into something presentable? if this was "fighting game lore" nobody would give a fuck about the family outside of playable heroes. there's something deeper going on behind the scenes here and you fucks are so cynical that you refuse to admit it
