CDDA mutation stacking question bump from last thread.

Looking at wiki, Beak cancels Mouth Tentacles but Mouth Tentacles doesn't cancel Beak. If I first get Beak can I later develop Mouth Flaps -> Mouth Tentacles? Or does "cancel" in this case mean it locks them out for good? What about other such cases?

It's been an annoying ritual with no challenge beyond the fact that you're likely to make a mistake due to boredom for about 15 years now.

As for actual jousting goes, the lance is pretty much just a big fucking spike that's in solid contact with the breastplate to spread the force of the blow evenly across the wielder's body. So not exactly possible to drive in circles while poking to the side but a hit and run skewering strategy could work. The hand holding the lance is mostly for aiming the point of the lance which could maybe allow the user to simultaneously use bike's controls or maybe the lance could be mounted onto a small rail on the handlebar.

So what anime has the most roguelike setting? Is it DanMachi or Grimgar?

i don't know what grimgar is but danmachi isn't particularly Like Rogue beyond just normal rpg dungeon diving stuff

It's been in awhile since I watched either. The big theme in Grimgar is permadeath. In the fights there was a heavy focus on tactics. They used kiting to deal with monsters and when kiting didn't work or something went wrong is when it got tense.

I liked both shows but Grimgar is better than DanMachi too.

You could, but you'd have to speed up the pacing by quite a lot and then it loses the sort of long term survival thing (when it's not so tedious that nobody would even bother to begin with) that it's trying to go for
Maybe someone should go at it with the idea that you should be able to finish a "run" in the same time as other roguelikes rather than being an open ended sandbox that needs to stretch things out

That ascension mod that was posted before had an interesting idea, collecting doohickies from the strongest creatures around the place and then using them in some ritual in order to win. I don't know exactly how that's done since I haven't played through it yet, but it seems like there's potential for open ended problem solving that makes it a good objective.
Since you'd want other options, a science/engineering path where you somehow make an anti-cataclysm fuckery device might work, perhaps just accepting that everything is fucked and work with a faction to make them dominant enough to survive the cataclysm world.
But, the devs seem content with making it an autismal roleplaying sim rather than a game to win

I'd play a series of short randomized scenarios with clear goal in sight. Some cross between DCSS sprints and Left 4 Dead campaigns.
Hoped that the defense mode would grow up to be something like that, but instead defense mode was abandoned and doesn't even properly work anymore.

For the record, triffid queens aren't the triffid boss. They're an ancient whales-era relic that hardcodedly edits the terrain around itself, usually creating a ton of bugs in the process. There can be several of them around a triffid grove.

starting traits count towards thresholds
fleet-footed definitely counts for bird and some of your other traits probably do too

It certainly will. Put casters on it, and maybe a larger storage battery, and you've got yourself a nice passive generator.

Yay, come back to my xnethack game that was parked on medusa and the dev had broken saves, causing my promising game to be erased on loading. Let's play sane variants instead, like Nethack Fourk, where piranhas somehow deal double damage compared to vanilla and will fuck you up because they can spawn in random pools everywhere.

I've let so many characters that could've ascended die because I want my first ascent to a 15rune win. Closest I've gotten has been 12 with a gargoyle fighter. Currently grinding out MuNe>gozag which has been great fun.
