Yup, it worked just fine there, yet in the mirror and according to other people my eyes like move around all over the place.

I've been enjoying vrchat desktop and I want to get a headset and controllers, without spending too much. I'm thinking I'll either get Samsung Gear or Windows Mixed reality stuff, are there any other decent options I'm missing? Anything I should know about their limitations or recommendations on which to choose? How do they compare to each other and the rift? Wikipedia says the gear has better resolution but lower fov than the rift, but I'm more interested in the head and controller tracking, is that the same for all of them?

The gear requires a smart phone to work, so it's not really worth it over getting a dedicated headset. Wmr works kinda clunky from all the reports I've read and most are around the same price as a rift, so you're better off buying one of those.

Compared to Rift and Vive Windows Mixed Reality has a higher resolution, equal FOV if you get the right set, but uses LCD screens instead of OLEDs. The tracking is worse - by how much depends on your room setup since inside-out tracking is sensitive to light and reflections. They're a good deal if you can get them around half the price of a Rift, which you still can on Amazon last I checked.
