Just use like 3-4 pieces of Nerg, swap chest for Dober or Damascus, gloves can be black diablos if you're going for focus, use weakness exploit charm.
Jag hack is really the best GS once you get 2-3 attack augments and crit boost jewels.
Get attack up 4-7 (if multiple jewels) WExploit Max might Elementless jewel Crit boost 2-3 Focus (optional but likely optimal once patch hits) Set bonus will heal you often enough

Well having 85% crit on weakzones with a heavy hitting weapon is nice. Less downtime with set bonus. The only other skills you'd benefit from are what...agitator and maybe quick sheathe (literally filler).
You'll never need speed sharpening, protective polish, flinch free (you have super armor on charges/tackles) on GS by nature of the weapon. Even something like 20 white/blue doesn't get consumed so quickly on GS when played properly.

Obviously retard. I break every single part of the monsters every time but I'm still getting 0 claws or only 1 every few quests. Don't see how plates are more common than basic parts. And they do stack

I have 9 Artillery but can't get a second Crit Boost. In fact I have full sets of every other "rare" strong skills in the game but it won't give me more Crit Boost. I have 26 Tenderizers (melded extras but have been keeping tallies)
