On these "new" (post 2005) 4X games, I've only ever played a game with the shifty jews in Endless Legend and one base campaign in Civ V. What should I do with my life from here on out?
Evan Lee
Daily reminder that Yang dindu nuffin and that Human Hive is the best faction.
Joseph Hughes
Don't mind me, just the best alien species in the game passing through.
why does switching a species rights in stellaris from slaves to caste system residence cause them all to instantly start forced migrating away?
Robert Russell
both those games are exemplary 4x games that you can easily dump hundreds of hours into. If they didn't captivate you, this may not be the genre for you
Kayden Allen
Probably to do with core world habitation policy or something
Jaxson Sanchez
Will do.
No you creep.
I like 4X, it's just that since Medieval II I've been a total Total Warrist. Sorry pal.
Ryan Gonzalez
You must also read the art book of Endless Legend you can get it for free.
Josiah Scott
i think thats it, thanks
Eli Cruz
>No you creep. :(
You might like the game though. It feels like a simple RTS 4x.
Colton Price
You guys better get ready to move away from torpvettes, wiz said they're buffing PD and knowing him it'll be an overbuff
How do you play Life Seeded/Inward Perfection? Just rush to Droids and have them colonize, then rush Star Fortress so you can take Voidborn and spam habitats?
Jaxon Martin
>a bloo bloo stop using the best government model it's not fair you get pop booms and i don't >:(
Ian Morgan
Aren't habitats universally bad? they're just expensive tiny planets
Colton Howard
I played a lot of ES2, but then they added bombers and vaulters and shit and I haven't played in a long time.
What is the new war ship meta?
I'm thinking of playing cravers, so should I just do a 50/50 on rockets/guns and start at long range?
Minerals are endless by midgame, especially if you only have a small fleet. Hyperlanes means you can defend yourself very well with two or three heavily fortified stations.
Habitats let you get additional small planets without using sectors, and their 100% habitability means you can get great happiness boosts. Each one's research penalty can be overcome by its research output.
Brody Miller
Ship meta used to be stacking beams and energy enhancers on every ship. It's been thrown into disarray because of substantial beam nerfs a few days ago. What is best for ship design now remains to be seen but kinetics may be good, if not lasers or a combination of the two. Missiles probably remain to be shit because of a lack of retargeting capabilities.
Lucas James
>tfw you save 15% on your corvette insurance
Jeremiah Allen
This is a neat change , I can build a decent station there and park my fleet just before it spawns for easy rewards
How are fighters and bombers? Is going beam heavy + fighters/bombers a good idea? IF they have kinetics then your beams still work
Noah Morris
Strikecraft are underwhelming every time I attempted to use them. They take a phase or two to actually start doing damage.
Robert Lee
>Missiles probably remain to be shit because of a lack of retargeting capabilities. Stellaris missiles retarget if their target dies and there's an enemy nearby.
Cameron Rogers
basically >if going missiles, swarm missiles are necessary to brute force past kinetics; they tend to be bad against small ship spam because no retargeting >it's always safe to have a bit of kinetics to counter cheeky missiles; in combat they're essentially old beams but with actual utility, so they're worthless outside of their own flotilla >lasers and beams are now all-rounders >bombers deal shitloads of damage but take a while to acquire targets, they're good against carriers and medium ships. fighters are worthless unless your opponent is running bombers. >if you're fighting someone with notably anemic manpower, boarding pods are good for getting instant traction on fleet growth >if you have greater than either 7 or 11 CP in a fleet and your opponent doesn't, missiles are really good since you can just stick them in the extra flotilla and get free 100% accuracy fire support
Angel Lopez
Why Wiz keep nerfing and do not buffing?
Dominic Peterson
Thanks.
Is there a reason to not just stick everything in the middle flotilla?
Jose Brooks
We're talking about ES2. Missiles there still don't retarget. I tried having a ton of missile ships with swarm missiles to get past their flak but all it resulted it was one ship being obliterated every battle but every other enemy ship being untouched. Every missile in your fleet goes for a single ship.
Wyatt Davis
Stacking beams in the middle flotilla was the meta. Anything other than beams will have a hard time because attacking from flotilla to flotilla is always long range, to my understanding
Wouldn't missiles be better at long range than beams?
Christian Lopez
If missiles weren't shit in general, they would be Maybe now they are with the beam nerf, but I don't know
Brody Roberts
Is there a mod that turns the player into an end game crisis from war mechanics point of view? Like being permanetly hostile towards all other empires without any diplomacy, no war declarations, no truces, no war exhaustion and you immediately take over any system you occupy.
Hudson Adams
>We're talking about ES2. I know, that's why I wanted to talk about Stellaris missiles.
Noah Ortiz
I got this event once 5 years into the game.
I got fucked. Piece of shit went on a rampage.
Kayden Perry
Is this the thing that they turned into a mid game crisis in the newest beta patch? Is this part of the base game or from leviathans?
Elijah Sanders
then the opponent can just stick everything in the outer flotillas with missiles and boarding pods and have permanent 100% accuracy
I wanted to post that Dominions pictures of lizard licking their own eyeballs, but googling "licking eyeballs" brought some weir/d/ content I am not comfortable with.
Did they update this game at all? I remember playing it when it came out and thought it was cool but lacking in just about everything, especially since you could only have one city.
Holy FUCK determined exterminators are some real shit I don't need influence I can annex my neighbor in one war My pops have 200% habitability and no happiness and no food and no factions with no negatives I am the ULTIMATE FUCKING LIFE FORM
>someone else here remembers colonization my nigga
Cameron Campbell
Preferably female, but I aim for the ass. She'll just struggle less than him.
Landon Kelly
Horatio has truly come a long way since his trailer came out
Carter Lopez
maybe stellaris 3.0 will be better...
Christian Nguyen
>maybe stellaris 4.0 will be better >maybe stellaris 5.0 will be better >maybe stellaris
Christopher Butler
How long did it take for EU IV to be good?
Luke Bell
Stellaris will never be good.
Easton Moore
starving pops should die off desu it's the only way an empire would ever recover from famine otherwise pops that aren't farming should die first, too if only because it'd make sense for farmers to keep a stash for themselves
Bentley Mitchell
Never heard of this. Looks like a game that came out on civ 5's popularity wave? Is it fun?
I used to play the original in dosbox, but don't think I actually finished the game. I should give the civ 4 version a try maybe.
Hunter Mitchell
Stellaris is a good game and will become even better after the diplomacy expansion.
Jayden Green
It's okay. More of an RPG than a 4x game though, since you can't really expand at all, you're stuck with one village that only has 6(?) building slots despite there being significantly more than 6 buildings/building material combos
Adam Morgan
Stellaris is an okay game that will become probably become better after the diplomacy expansion.
Jordan Clark
AI's are basically incapable of managing food. If a SINGLE farm is destroyed it's usually enough to send them into the starvation spiral. Watch wiz sneakily update that AI's only need 1 food for every 4 pops or something, like how they had to make gene-modding cheaper for the AI because otherwise it would do nothing but gene-mod for centuries
Nathan Evans
Why is Stellaris UI so fucking terrible on performance?
Even the Launcher freezes for about 15 seconds when clicking on a mod file after too many of them have been activated.
Couldn't they just give the AI a set of genemoded presets it uses instead of random genemoding?
Carter Ramirez
Fanatic purifiers are similar but with plenty more firepower bonus.
Logan Lopez
UI is the cause for most lag in the game. IIRC the game has every possible menu open at once at all times or something.
Luis Diaz
>but cant settle in any planet
Yeah, forgot abut this one
Joshua Young
why do you play Stellaris if you hate it, user?
Christopher Lewis
Is the corporate dominion civic worth a shit? Also, apart from shit roleplay, what is the goal of barbaric despoilers?
Aaron Carter
I don't hate Stellaris.
I hate Wiz for turning a potentially great game into a mediocre one that only ever copies what modders already have done and puts a price-tag on it without even bothering to fix the most basic problems of the game, like performance problems and something as simple as making mods not cause duplicated entries of cities and shipsets in the Empire creator menu.
Eli Nguyen
>be peaceful for fuck knows how long >decide to remove the fucker bordering me, who hated me since the start of the game and always declared wars and shit >declare war, finish it, take half his shit >this happens Every time
colony ships are easier to buy with energy than minerals early game
Bentley Gray
>Game has problems due to the UI >Paradox doesn't want to fix it because they rather make more DLC to get money >More DLC brings more UI shit >At some point the game will kill itself This is selfdestructive
Alexander Adams
Well this is weird as shit, I actually just uploaded this one.
I really hate this shit too As soon as you do ANYTHING half the galaxy forms a NAP/federation But it's only when you do it, when an AI is causing shit barely anyone cares.
