If you are going to use a health augment then you should run peak lv 3 along with it. Life aug is becoming a bit more popular now but I would get only 1 regen aug max, and ideally on a Rarity 6/7 wep so that its not the only boost you get.

Nope, Free meal works with anything you eat or drink. This includes rations, potions, drugs, and whatever else has a "long" animation. Couple with speed eating, and you can go for ages.
