The gameplay is serviceable I'd say. But the story is so bad. I played Tales of Berseria right before TX and I just couldn't stop thinking about how shit the story is. Characters were lacking too but I still enjoyed a lot of the convos.

Not all of them represent living being i figure. Also some of that info is Ao, and Cs 3 spoilers so careful. Fire card has a old king like figure, but i think the sept-terrion itself just encased it's core into a humanoid to fight the earth sept-terrion, and the core is not human-like, like the mirage sept-terrion.
I liked all the ones i played, with Celceta making me a little bummed near the end due to it feeling rushed, and i'm not a particular fan of the bump system, but it's still a nice experience.

Yeah it's just a good game, it's not like I'm personally affected by who plays it or doesn't And although there are plenty of charts and rec sites out there that list it as "really good despite being relatively obscure" or whatnot, many newcomers to the series still miss that and lose the chance for an enjoyable experience, which should be remedied
It does sting a little to see Celceta talked about like it's the only Ys 4 though because of its extremely poor characterization of the villains, and its soundtrack missing some of the best themes with new additions being decent at best At least Falcom added a loli with large thighs to prove there were still men of patrician taste on board despite the mistakes the team made
Their in house artist seems to have improved a lot, but he used to be way freaking worse, the sameface was fucking transparent in his stuff.
