Now that you can put your own base, beastcrafting is a lot better. Buy a ring, belt, anything you want to mod, casually capture every beast you encounter during the day and spam the mod you want before logging off to empty your menagerie. Repeat until you are lucky like everything in this game.

Stack enough damage to one-shot trash and then replace multistrike with faster attacks, so you could zoom-attack-zoom-attack.
