Even that stupid combat plane game that popped up from reddit made enough money for the dev to live off and hire 2 more people to help out with his next one.
Adam Garcia
even toby of the fox could afford hiring people for hire to help him make game
Tyler Long
I only see undeserved success in gamedev, never undeserved failure.
>It was a big challenge because all of the Baldur’s Gate original assets like the 3D models that make up these sprites, the 3D models for the levels in the original game, these archives were lost
Not the only place I've read it either. They also mentioned it in the Pillars of Eternity chapter of "Blood, Sweat, and Pixels" by Jason Schreier
Pretty sure Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct used a similar idea for their sprites earlier than that too.
Adrian Williams
why are you still devving user? just kick back and relax.
they are killing me because the units are running through the building even though they have walls up so idk why the fuck they are doing that maybe its the way i spawn the walls since this problem is only with the building walls and not the walls i put in the room editor
on top of that my mouse is still click dragging when i place a building which i thought was an easy fix but i have to figure out how to prevent that firstly though i must fix the buildings fucking a
hi agdg it's been like 2 or 3 years since I visited. I'm working on a game I started around the time I stopped posting and came back to. I've been making some good headway. How have you been?
Matthew Lee
I just finished implementing a basic gib system. Figured out all the enemy concepts.
Time to hook into some synthwave and code 'em into reality.
holy fucking shit turning 3D space into a 2D radar is pissing me off
so much turning world to local and then I've got fucking Roll from my rotation fucking my shit up

I met a ton of cool people on agdg when I posted here A bunch of them have made really nice games
I made a shitty game but it was fun :P

just ideas

I added something for the next Ludum Dare today (in addition to implementing half a dozen state controllers, but none of them are cool enough to be worth mentioning).
The new stuff basically ties my wrapper library together in an entity-component fashion. Feels kinda haphazard to just code a system without having a project to use it in, so I'll probably make a small April's Fools game next weekend. On an unrelated note, April's Fools jam should've been a thing, it would've been great.
>Pretty sure Donkey Kong Country and Killer Instinct used a similar idea for their sprites earlier than that too. Indeed. But something that I never understood was why the Diddy Kong sequel looked so much worse? Didn't they bother up cleaning the sprites, or something?
Xavier Murphy
welcome to the wonderful world of gimbal lock and why Quaternions exist
Henry Martin
Why are there so many image loading libraries and why would i use one that has a dll dependency?
Blake Gray
quaternions don't solve gimbal lock
Ayden Davis
how does collision in UE4 work? I made a box, added a OnHit to it, and attached it to a mesh. It only outputs a message when a character hits it. I want anything to trigger it
William Cox
I'm getting the look at rotation (which returns pitch and yaw) and then Inverse Transforming this based on my radar
Doesn't inversing the transform take care of the problem? I'm a brainlet, I have no idea what im doing. When I do inverse transform though it does add roll.

user's finish a game this time.

In the pirate world what determines if you need to crack a game or it's simply download, extract and play? Could understand if it had something to do with file size but seen different 5 GB games of both types.
>I'm a brainlet, I have no idea what im doing don't do rotations manually.
Nolan Martinez
using axis angle rotations solve the problem.

figured out what was causing it basically the pathfinding saw those cells as empty since nothing was there before i built it now i just have to add the cells of the building to the grid so that the pathfinding knows that is now blocked on top of that i still have to spawn the walls since that will stop me from planting buildings on buildings i think i have a cleaner way to add the cells im just going to put it in the create event of the walls and that way i can just spawn the walls in the building and not the walls plus the cells pretty easy fix i was stressing more than i should have
no, I do have a VR horror game in the works also though that is almost done. This is actually an adult game, she just doesn't have her face on.
Landon Nelson
you guys got jokes, do you have a game though?
Michael Gomez
what the fuck
all you have to do is get the translation vector of the radar points, rotate it by the inverse of the viewpoint's rotation matrix, and zero out the Z axis.

the only issue with creating walls inside of the buildings is when you want to destroy a building, it might be messy to effectively delete only the wall instances that are spawned within the building. Can't you just have the buildings and walls and anything you can't build on top of be a universal parent object? Would simplify things a lot. Btw, are you using gamemaker i am

Undertale did a lot of things you can't do anymore without someone calling you a ripoff artist and either attacking you because they like Undertale or attacking you because they hate Undertale but this is not one of them

Also I ended up moving things around since apparently my controller is dead
