JAST is pretty good nowadays. They'll actively turn down licenses they've been negotiating for if they refuse to provide original art assets. They also always ensure their titles come out without any forms of censorship or with a complete "anonymous" restoration patch that includes the original art assets. JAST Has some real big fucking problems, but none in regards to being a 'shitty' company by consumer standards.

While I do agree to an extent, I'd like to point out hoshimemo and chronoclock. JAST is pretty good about their officially released translations, so while they only do 1-2 titles a year you know they'll all be uncensored with ALL the content AND no mosaics alongside an average or better translation. No other western publisher can match the criteria I just mentioned, not Frontwing, MG, or SP. They also love hardcopies so there's a pretty solid chance you can get one of 'em as well.

JAST hasn't grabbed a bunch of licenses though. They have the 3 or 4 titles they just grabbed, most of which already have a fan-release and they have the Nitro+ catalog which they've had for AGES due to an old business agreement. Unlike SP which secures any possible license they can get their hands on and will hold onto it for 3-6 years. Hell didn't it take MG like 3 years to release Da Capo 3 after they DMCA'd a fan-translation for it?

I mean I don't really know the specifics here but I never got the impression that MG were just running off with their vast bundles of cash earned on the back of their underpaid slaves.
