It's not strictly 1.12, it's the progression of patches from launch to tbc that made certain situations or encounters quite a bit easier. Or even just QoL features that it's easy to forget about now. Taking 1.12 in a vacuum is a big part of the reason private servers can never be "blizz-like". But it also highlights the fact that "blizz-like" is impossible. That's not the worst thing in the world but should be viewed in that framework rather than comparing directly.
This is the reason the real debate regarding classic isn't about memes like LFD/LFR, flying, paladin taunts, etc. It's about which franken-patch to settle on as far as making the game work. If they go with 1.12 talents, they;'re going to have to spend an awful lot of time re-itemizing and buffing encounters or else it will be more similar to private servers than anything approaching retail vanilla. Even arguing for a straight up launch to 1.12 progression, warts and all, has various issues. Those people clearly can't mean they want shamans to need to re-train 2h weapons everytime they spec out of resto to go have fun in pvp, right? Or on the same class, they must want melee to completely avoid any shaman that isn't oom as no diminishing returns on frostshock, until that's changed, right? Those things do not make sense.
Anyhow, the point is it's more complicated than 1.12 vs 1.1. It would be a lot of reading, but one can go to the wowwiki and page through each major patch and see how many crazy game-altering changes there were that we take for granted now. This isn't necessarily to argue 1.12 vs "retail vanilla", it's that a straight up comparison is mostly impossible and would be like a stupid bnet "remember when lmao" post that is subtly baiting for paladin taunt.

Can someone explain to me how vanilla raid timers work? If I complete MC wiht one guild can I do MC again 5 minutes later with another guild? If not, what happens? Am I not able to join the instance, join the raid, or do I join a different instance that my raid joins (they are all inside but when I go in I am the only one there)?
