Depending on what you're running, you're looking at a significantly easier time regardless. Times will come faster because you'll be doing better, more efficient damage, which causes monsters to get tripped more often, which adds more damage and less risk to you.

LS literally has a move that improves DPS while countering roars, by all means use Earplugs but it's a waste of resources considering LS is one of the few weapons without a shield that has a "get out of roars free" card assuming you know how to use it.
If anything it should be your #1 priority to get used to FS'ing roars since it not only frees up points in your build but leads straight into meter-up and round-slash for heavy damage.

It's because HB is going to be uninterruptible by roars and attacks post-patch if that jap source is to be trusted so it's neither here nor there.
Beyond that you're taking full investment currently in earplugs for 1 move when the non-unga solution to the problem in the current patch is just to not HB when you don't have the opening and yes - FS through it instead and HB later.

Can't remember the source but there's some nip's twitter acc where it mentions HB being basically uninterruptible while ZSD specifically gets Earplugs mentioned in patch-notes because it's getting roar resist only.

I used to take Earplugs on GL when I was scrubby and wasn't used to shields but there's no argument that it wasn't sub-optimal. Maybe give it another go post-patch since they're widening the parry window of the attack and it really is a game-changer once you get used to it.
