Playing randoms is so unbearably awful most of the time. Usually some kid, stoner fuck or daft cunt without a mic that just stand on deck doing jack all. They usually get bored and try to grief their own crew, I don't understand these neanderthals.
If you are gonna play with randoms be ready to requeue till you find an acceptable crew.
I do, I'm simply staggered by these vaping nu males that stand around complaining about how boring the game is while the rest of the crew is off having a laugh and treasure hunting.

Level 15 currently, does it get better? I havent dug out a single captains or special chest yet, but I've found several randomly or in shipwrecks. Quite often I get a voyage with 3 maps and all those chests together are worth less than what I find in 1 shipwreck.
Oh and the quests I get from bottles are most of the time higher level and bettter reward for some reason, just yeserday found a skelly mission on a bottle that was 4 bosses, 3 of them shadow and 1 plant.

Loot tends to be better overall on shipwrecks in general, but yes you can get better chests with higher level voyages.
I've been trying the peaceful approach when playing solo, but there's still some part of me praying they'll shoot first and give me justification to unleash fury upon them
If they don't shoot we just play music and have a comfy time
The merchants need a rework. You have to turn in the loot at specific outposts for the rewards and it's timed. It's so much worse than the other two where you don't have these restrictions.
I just level merchants randomly by finding silk and shit.

I feel like you should atleast be able to start the voyage whenever and grab the necessary cages from a crate in your ship.

>see shipwreck on the way back and get 2 merchant crates and a skull to turn in
>arrive at outpost and see docked galleon on opposite side of island
>get to turn my shit in and have an empty boat
>sail directly into galleon
>sword surf onto their boat
>they're too busy shooting my boat to notice me
>i drop their anchor
>run up the crow's nest and start playing my instrument
>they never find me
>wait 3 minutes after they start sailing and drop anchor again
>jump in water and then dodge 2 bullets and then jump on the ladder on the side
>2 minutes go past and i run up and drop anchor again and jump off
>made it back on and try to steer their boat into a rock but they actually watch the steering wheel so they finally 3v1 me

the interaction with other players won't come to you unless you seek it out or are unlucky if you don't want it
Pistol/blunderbuss is superior for boarding/defending against boarding.
Pistol/Sniper is best when you need to stay aboard and do difficult shots.

1. Park the ship right up beside the pier for easy offloading of a haul
2. Park up next to the coast of an island without damaging the ship
3. Call out when you need full/half/no sail to make maneuvers and communicate what you intend to do.

Unless you have a well practiced 3 or 4 man a sloop is the superior ship. Its easier to coordinate and outmaneuver with it. You can squash 90% of pubbies with two good sailors.

if you got time to run your fucking moth you got time to get to a sail and set the angle or length it's a fucking galleon you NEED at least 3 people constantly manning every station to get it to maneuver as much as a sloop can with even just 1 person because there's 3 fucking sails
i couldn't tell you how many times i've had to get off the wheel to manage not just the sail above me but the middle sail as well
I have never experienced this. Everyone ALWAYS shoots first. Even if it's a 1 man sloop vs our galleon. If there's anyone at a fort it's a firefight instantly.

that's because you only need one person to make the sloop work properly. you NEED 4 people to make a galleon work. not to mention a sloop can postpone its death indefinitely due to how fast you can bail ON TOP of having their cannonball barrel right next to the guns, so you can put down more or less consistent cannon fire while the driver controls the sails and rudder. anchor turns, while a bit of a crutch, are easy as fuck to do since it only takes like 3 seconds to raise anchor with both dudes turning.

I only wish my crews would listen to these instructions. Without these 1 and 2 aren't possible.

Me and my sloopman spawned in with literally nothing in our inventories, no clothes, etc. I could possibly understand this game being so empty if the mechanics were locked down but its so fucking buggy, laggy and with shitty servers I cannot even comprehend why they launched with this.
If its going to be buggy as fuck just put more content in so once its debugged it will be decent. So many missed chances for cool shit.

>no social hub with minigames even though the game has pretty fucking decent emotes and social interactions built in. could easily just be a safe zone with no turn-ins where your treasures get seized by the port authority if you dock there so no one can hide in it while being chased.
really glad I used the free pass. might pay for another month to see where it goes but if that dont add in some more decent content asap most people will be out. The pvp will get tired after a while.
I guarantee you pirate legend is nothing more than a nice hat as well. Cant wait till people find out.
