even so, the mechanics behind the crystal beasts are just impossible to function properly in DL and even if you get rainbow dragon on the field it will easily get killed since it does not have inherent protection

The latter. Pretty much just a petdeck, don't expect to go too far with it, but it can be really fun to trick some fools. Floodgates help it a lot, but Konami hates me so i only have one right now.
In all fairness Duel Links and the anime were promoted together and the current anime features speed duels, so by all accounts we should have Link monsters
Crystal Beasts coming to please the furfags can't avoid the fact from being part of the dullest franchises in the history of mobile game franchises. Each month following Konami's announcements and his pals from unavailable Lengendary Duelists list as we fight assorted standard NPCs has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the game’s only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of card effects, all to make magic cards, unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Konami vetoed the idea of Cyber Angels joining the game; they made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody? Just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for their loot boxes. The Duel Monster World (DM) might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Magic: The Gathering series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to since GX World is available.

I began marking on the back of my AsukaxJudai poster every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the poster several dozen times. I was incredulous. Konami's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that they have no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links by the same Dkayed™. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Burn deck recipes." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links you are, in fact, trained to play Artifact.

I feel the same way about Red Eyes Zombies. I hate using it but it's the most effective deck I have if I want to stand a chance in PvP.
This is why I like PVE events better. I can use any deck I want.
