Another bit of trivia: one of the guys helping with the execution picked up her head and slapped it, and according to legend her face actually scowled in response (it's unlikely, but if there was still enough oxygen being supplied by the blood left in her head, then it's technically possible). Sanson was disgusted by the man's actions and denied that he was one of his assistants (apparently he was just a carpenter involved with building the guillotine set-up).
