I think it takes a special level of dedication to be a Byzaboo and actually know your history. It's like being a fan of a joke sports team, like Cubs or Indians. It's an empire pretty much perpetually in decline from the time the west falls, and pretty much fucked by it's own hubris and infighting by the time Islam mops the floor with them. It's all downhill from there. Every good emperor (lookin at you, BBS ;3) is really just one of those instances where it's like "Eh, now this empire *might* have a fighting chance to come back to power.... but oh, wait, no reality ensues".

what I mean to say is that it's painful to study its history, and watch it decline because of the enshrinement of the "virtues" of man, like greed, lust, hubris, and megalomania. It's like watching a cringe video, but it's the history of the remnants of was once a top-tier empire. It just hurts to watch them sit there and fuck themselves and give in to petty feudalism in the theme system because they couldn't exert enough force to make their citizens pay taxes. Byzaboos depend, really. If they're Byzaboos because they're genuinely interested in the Byzantine Empire and all topics encompassing that, then they're usually fine. It's the /pol/ "DOOS VAULT GIVE ME BACK MUH COSTANOPLE" LARPer types who know very little regarding Byzantium beyond the very basics and make little effort to enhance their knowledge that are the irritating ones.

Franceaboos on Veeky Forums are very irritating I have noticed. French history and culture is indeed very interesting and worth researching, but most of the Franceaboos I've encountered on Veeky Forums are just people who are eternally arse-hurt regarding England and Germany and spam inaccurate images as a result.

Oh and Crusadeaboos are in a similar situation with Byzaboos. The history is very interesting, but the /pol/acks give it a bad name with their deus vult LARPing.
