Anyone else considering investing in Runescape items through RWT? Like seriously
Blue partyhatys for instance, we KNOW they are a stable, valuable investment as long as Runescape exists and is a popular game. They will always be among the most valuable items in-game.
Blues as recent as 4 years ago were 4.1b, they are now coming up on 13b, this is a 3x in value, and RSGP prices have stayed the same. This is almost 100% yearly ROI by simply purchasing a blue phat through RWT and hodling.
fuck my life i used to have a purple partyhat and my friend got me to sell it for 400 mil
Michael Gonzalez
how much would a phat cost right now in USD
Julian Wilson
Gold prices have stayed the same per mil since back then, it's still just over 25 cents per mil, but rares are increasing in price
A blue phat would cost $$3.25k, whereas a few years ago they were like ~$1k
Owen Clark
About $5000, give or take. Yes, it turns out that these were even better investments than bitcoins.
If you managed to get a big stockpile of them many years ago somehow, you could literally buy a house with it.
Easton Butler
not saying no, but how about your operational risk (how hard to get $ for your gp without getting banned and cleaned for your $)
also what about liquidity
Hunter Jackson
Yeah that's the issue, RWT bans are VERY volatile. You can get banned a year after you do it when you think you're in the clear. Because they may find a new goldfarm and then ban them all and also check all trades and ban all people who bought.
That being said I personally sold double digit bils of RSGP on PlayerAuctions and never got banned, on a "well known" account
Joseph Smith
But what if jagex shits all over its own game like it always has and your precious phat gets dumped?
Luke Bailey
They've been shitting all over it for years and they still stand strong
People used to think there was some big conspiracy of whales who bought ALL the rares and were holding them for years for money. I now think this is nonsense, barely anyone plays it anymore, barely anyone trades crackers for instance
Nobody trades crackers AT ALL, there have been literally no cracker trades for months.
I think if there are whales they quit long ago and have stockpiles of hundreds of thousands of USD worth of phats in their bank.
Sebastian Smith
Also I think rares in Runescape are legitimately the best virtual analogue for bitcoin
Even in the "early days" of Runescape for most of us, we'd think "Holy shit, you could get partyhats for only a couple hundred k. Insane"
In 50 years little kids will be saying "HOLY SHIT grandpa, you could get an entire bitcoin for just $2,000"
I won't miss out on this crypto rare rush.
Nicholas Morgan
They are rising because RS3 has an insane inflation problem. The retarded JMods decided to just put alchable items as the main non-rare drop for every big boss since fucking nex. It was easy but every alchable dropped is just turned into money and it doesn't go anywhere so GP gets devalued in the game.
Also if you want to know about a whale who quit, then you should know this guy (Moltrinex) had 100Phat sets that we know of, probably more, (1 of each colour makes a set) but he got jailed for sperging out and beating his parents with an aluminium baseball bat
I can't contain these feels. Rs is how I made my first money back when they first introduced free trade after that whole trade limit shit, which kept me from having to wagecuck. I think I still have a few partyhats on a banned account kek. Right as I got bored of the rsgp market I found out about buttcoin and got into that. Now I'll never have to be a wagie ((((made it to lamboland some time ago))). What a time to be alive
Joseph Hughes
Me too man, I was too autistic to get a job at the grocery store and I made thousands on RSGP ty Jagex
Parker Cooper
What did you guys even do? How did making real money on RS work?
Elijah Collins
Farming frost dragons 1m per hour on 30 accounts at once with Nexus
Mason Mitchell
You just find someone who wants to buy with a great reputation of hundreds of successful purchases, and they pay you on PayPal after you trade them the cash. Or the other way around if you're selling to a friend or someone
To make the money just be good at Runescape, either be max combat and PvM or engage in the "real money" methods such as merchanting clans, botting, or dice games.
Levi Rivera
Gold prices change.
Josiah Long
Literally just botting. Back before the bot ban shit, you could easily get away with bot farms to earn thousands in a month. Only cost was electricity and very little management.
Matthew Green
Hey user I never really botted but I'm extremely curious
Are bots getting better? It seems to me like they could just add random humanlike behavior like mouse spamming when bored or being inefficient sometimes to not get caught. And maybe even make a fake bot-chat network where they all talk to each other to make them seem like they're just a normal clan like "Hey guys I just killed 1k frosts already lmfao" and they reply "nice" and they type out each letter individually. Is this too advanced? Did anyone make anything like this?
Wow I want to get back into it again.
Anthony White
I have fond memories of playing the game for the game with my friends. Remember the bots were hella annoying back then. I confess we reported bots when we saw them.
Did any of you guys start because you enjoyed playing? Or did you start KNOWING this had a market? Are there opportunities remaining today?
Carter Anderson
well, there are still fucking fuckity fuckloads of bots so I imagine someone is still hustlin' that gp
Daniel Bell
I started playing because it was my life back in middle school and high school and then started using it to make real life money. I loved this game
Alexander Phillips
the only one I knew of that did this was robotsindisguise (RID), the bot was supposed to be an AI instead of a script so the movements were actually human like and quasi random
Zachary Reyes
Investing in items from a game that is dying. Seems like a good idea. You missed out brother. Back in 2009-2012-ish a lot of people made hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars with gambling, rwt'ing etc.
