Add your own truth-or-memes guys. I want to learn some things

Partial true. A lot of them genuinely lost eyes from powder burns and cuts and shit.

False, made up by a Scotsman trying to rise above his station.

True, but you're missing data.

False

No idea, but it sounds reasonable.

No.

The Vikings reached America before Colombus, but there were already people living there, so no.

No.

Sounds like a meme.

Meme?

What?

Truth. He thought it wasn't necessary because he underestimated the tenacity of Rome.

Not sure. The Greeks and Romans definitely didn't like them, while the Celts and Germans did.

Meme?

There was no organized war, because there was no organization in general. Indian tribes were very close to anarchism.

Truth. The Tlaxcala have supplied tens of thousands of warriors.

True.

The biggest meme of them all.

>>the usa never initiated a war and only fought defensive wars
>false
>The biggest meme of them all.

Name ONE WAR that the USA started. ONE WAR.
All the territory that USA gained was paid for in CASH and under CONTRACT, and all military action was a result of a foreign ATTACK on american soil.

The USA conquered the world in a defensive war.

Only the Iraq war can be shown as unchecked American agression.

>nubians were blacks
They were darker skinned than the egyptians, but they probably didn't look like the average African american.

all of the above are memes

/thread

>Tito was a good leader
Depends on your values, but if nothing else he brought stability, de-balkanized Balkan states, and successfully stood up to Stalin.

>Miloshevic was a good president
I realize this is probably a minority opinion, seeing as this is Veeky Forums, but I personally don't prioritize ethnic cleansing over other services a government could provide, so I'm going to say no.

>Communism was good
Communism was. The 20th century was a general shitshow under a number of different political ideologies. Clearly Stalin sucked, I've heard from people who lived there at the time that stuff was alright in *Russia* under Khrushchev/Brezhnev. Most of the smaller Soviet Republics managed to be pretty awful, though. I'll say "meme", overall.

>Nubians were blacks
Probably meme.

>Joan of Arc was a sexy witch
It's pretty unlikely a medieval French peasant girl would be sexy, but I'll accept the remote possibility. However, as she was a devout Catholic, I find the charge of witchcraft pretty ridiculous.

>Jasenovac did happen
Not super familiar with this one, but Croats killing Serbs is hardly surprising.

>Croats, Serbians, Monteniggers, Bosniacs talk Serbian
The difference between a dialect and a distinct, related language is arbitrary.

>Milos Obrenovic's assassin killed Karadjordje
>>Milos Obrenovic had Karadjordje assassinated
No opinion, just wanted to clarify the wording.

>Gavrilo Princip started WW1
A statement too facile to be useful.

Idiotic. They had these things called "lanterns".
>>Freemason are a continuation of the Knights Templar
They claim to be, but there's no actual link.
>>Vikings reached America first
Nope, Basque fishermen got there before the Vikings.
>>Napoleon was short and/or had a small weiner
He was slightly below average height, no idea about his dong tho.

This is until you realize he still had chemical weapons, and was an obstructive cunt to inspectors.

We have zero we wuzisms here.

Giving a reason isn't the same thing as starting a war. It doesn't even border provocation

nice try. can't read whats under the michigander's arm, but I can tell its not faygo.

>he was an obstructive cunt
>WELL LETS GO TO WAR

>Sadam had chemical weapons
So? We(USA) have chemical weapons. That's not a initiation of war.

meme

Iraq was bound by resolution 687 to stay the fuck away from chemical weapons and allow inspectors unobstructed access to do their damn jobs. Iraq accepted the resolution. The security council, which includes the US, was REQUIRED to take steps to enforce this resolution.

Iraq failed to comply.

Resolution 1441 comes about, outlines EXACTLY what Iraq has failed to do, and gives Iraq a final chance to comply.
Iraq failed to comply.
Iraq gets invaded, now it can't fail to comply.

Iraq provoked the war at every turn, and did so over the course of a fucking decade.

Meme, even if you agree with Hitler you must admit that he did at least one thing wrong: he lost.

This is ignoring that iraq also ignored all of the other arms controls placed on them, and provably so.

If you accept a cessation of hostilities with set conditions placed on you, and then knowingly violate those terms, YOU are at fault for the resulting violence.

>declare war for ignoring a UN resolution
Laughable at best. America,China,Russia etc. ignore U.N. resolutions all the time, Israel will probably ignore this new resolution as well. Hardly a just reason for war.

Are the resolutions specifically put in place to prevent your nation from continuing it's national policies of mass murder and outright armed landgrabs against your neighbors?

No. The resolutions against Iraq were, because Iraq was a demonstrable threat to everyone around them if not disarmed.

Welcome to another exciting episode of TRUUUUUTH OOOOOOR MEMEEEEE!!!

>terms dictate empire must actively stop talos worship
>rogue imperial clients(stormcloaks) prevent this.
>hypothetical war breaks out when aldmeri dominion invades

Then don't pretend it's about the agreement Iraq made. The war clearly happened because the u.s. didn't want a strong independent Iraq.

Saddam Hussein was head of the government, not a rogue element. Try again.

Failure to comply is considered to be the samd as active noncompliance.
If the emperor can't successfully ban talos worship, he is noncompliant, same as if he never tried.

Why are you referencing Skyrim in debate you dork

Except that isn't what happened.

Enjoy your strawman.

Fun fact. Buccaneers had a rudimentary insurances system. A set amount was paid out according to.the severity of the injury. I believe a lost eye paid the most and a finger the least.

In a related fact.

Guilds in medieval times had a form of social security. Each member would pay a specific amount each month into a fund. If a member of a guild fell ill and was unable to work he would be paid out of the fund.

Explain. Do you disagree that Sadam didn't try to comply?
Is that not the same as failure to comply?
What do you disagree with?

I mean it works, but as to whether it was a real common practice or not who can say?
>Freemason are a continuation of the Knights Templar
Stop getting your history from Assassin's Creed. this is just pure nonsense.
>Vikings reached America first
First among Europeans? Yes, this is indisputable historical fact. They had settlements in modern day Canada and Greenland as early as the 11th century.
>Napoleon was short and/or had a small weiner
He was of average height for his time. Never heard about him having a small dick, sounds like more random nonsense.

>the pope talked attila out of conquering the world, which he could've otherwise done
He did talk to Attila, but giving him sole credit for turning away the Scourge of God is a meme.
>the celts only lost to the romans in britain because civilians who gathered to watch the fight prevented proper strategical movement
Sounds like Roman propaganda.
>hitler rushed the war so it can end before he dies of parkioson's that he knew he had
Stupid conspiracy theory.
>the arabs would've captured constantinople if not for barbarians attacking them
Unlikely
>hannibal didn't want to conquer rome, just to start revolts in other cities and sign some good peace deal
This is a confused statement, because the first part is mostly false, while the second part was his method of waging war in order to carry out Rome's eventual capitulation.
>wearing pants was considered uncivilized and barbaric
By the Greeks and Romans? Yes.
>tattoos originated as a way to mark prisoners and slavs
Tattoo's "originated" in various cultures all over the world for various reasons, so this statement is nonsense.
>native (north) americans were peaceful and coexisted before colonialism
Absolutely false, there's evidence of genocidal wars between tribes that go back thousands of years.
>the spanish couldn't fight the aztecs alone, so they made a coalition of other states and only then attacked
True. Europeans rarely were without allies among the native tribes in the lands they colonized.
>the american war of independence was just a small battle in the longer french versus british imperial war
Calling this a meme because while it has pieces of truth to it it's twisted in a way that makes it untrue. France exploited the American revolution to push its war against Britain, the revolution was not "part of" the conflict in its origin.
>the usa never initiated a war
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Revolutionary War

Meme
>there was no East Roman Empire or West Roman Empire, they were at all times considered the same thing, just under two administrators for connivance
True sorta but the way it's said is misleading. There was an eastern/western empire but they were still both the Roman Empire, not separate entities, just separate autonomous spheres of governance within the empire.
>blitzkrieg is better than deep battle, it was those darn americans sending rubber and plastic that ruined it
Obviously?
>Taiwan is the real China, and what we call "China" is actually a very long ongoing revolt

Meme

More true than meme.
>Nietzsche died of an STD after fucking around with his girlfriend and her other lover
He died of syphilis, the rest I dunno

>Name ONE WAR that the USA started. ONE WAR
The war of 1812.

"Meme" doesn't mean false statement, you fucking tards

meme

simbly ebic

Eye-patch claim is ridiculous
Freemason claim is true, but basically unimportant because they are such different organizations.
Vikings reached "America" but didn't do anything important by getting there.
Napoleon was average height for the time but perhaps shorter than the average aristocrat. There is no evidence regarding the size of his member, although he did refer to sex more or less as a brief moment of pleasure and a source of heirs. He had apparently very little interest in the pleasure of women, and referred to sex as a one or two minute affair that ended predictably and then was over.

He did like being loved/loving women though, as evidenced by numerous affairs and jealousies, along with various requests in his will for assets that he mostly didn't own to be distributed to a small parade of his former lovers.

>Eye-patch claim is ridiculous
Not really. There are still cases where it comes in handy, and very few of them now involve confined spaces and gunpowder.
>Freemason claim is true
No it isn't, Chevalier Ramsay made that shit up so he could pretend he was important. There's no evidence prior to that point.

A meme is an idea that isn't necessarily sensible, but gets repeated over and over so everyone is aware of it.
Meme is pop culture of sorts.

Most of the claims here are memes.

>viking meme

>Eye-patch claim is ridiculous
I've tried it and it works, though the eye patch pirate association probably does just come from injuries.
