Been mining since last year, what do you want to know OP ?

what do you mine, on what hardware and what is your profit without the electricity cost?
also do you think the harder difficulty would change the income significantly?
i thinking about buying two rx580 to mine so ETH

>Consider mining with my old R9 390
>Remember it's 30°C outside

I'm using rx 470s for mining, eth difficulty is at a huge peak right now, but as long price will continue go up mining will stay profitable, worst case scenario is eth going pos, since then around 1 million gpus will have to find a new coin to mine.
RX 570/580 is fine for mining, just get an appropriate bios mod for the memory vendor you get.

and what is ur apr. profit/month?
my current pc has an 1050ti should i start mining with that too?
also waht are the other coins i could mine with gpu?

yeah, I mine, small scall. 12 gpus.

Nvidia suck at eth, go try zcash

thanks

Current profit is at around 80$ a day, power is included. I'm about to set up few more rigs on gtx 1070, with all the new rigs i should be making close to 200$ a day, for 1050ti go zcash or lbry

From coins to mine my suggestions are dependand on gpu you have.
ETH/ETC/EXP(ethash) : rx 470/480/570/580
DCR/SIA/PASC : as dual mining option for above, look up claymore's miner, increased power and heat output
ZEC/ZCL/HUSH(equihash algo) : all pascal nvidia cards, amd 7000/200/300 series + fury/nano
LBC : all nvidia maxwell/pascal cards, not profitable with amd
any FOMO coin found on whattomine.com not mentioned above, sometimes groestl stuff is very profitable on nvidia

I'll tell you what I have/do

2 x gtx 1070
2 x gtx 1080
2 x rx 570 4gb
6 x rx 480 8gb

i mine slighly more than .2 eth per day. I dual mine siacoin and make about 5k sia per week.

no bios mods. AMD cards on ubuntu, nvidia on windows 10.

best card if you can find any is rx 470 8gb with the 2000mhz mem, but you wont find any.

use your 1050ti to mine zcash - most profit doing that. Not good for eth.

be prepared to spend money on risers, power supplies, and expect to turn your house into a fucking furnace. I started mining because I thought it was just easy money waiting to be taken. wrong. it's expensive to set up, expensive to run, you must LEARN LEARN LEARN about different miners, set up wallets, find a good pool, be prepared for hardware fuck ups and diagnosing problems like shitty chink risers. I even had an rx 480 go bad on me... still need to return that.

Oh and the noise OP, god.... the fucking noise. 12 GPU flat out gets fucking annoying.

then again... 40-50 USD a day approx isn't bad...

I've heard 4GB rx cards are pretty trash, slow memory. Should they be avoided?

Well it depends on the memory vendor you get, there are 4 types, samsung, hynix, elpida, micron. My 470s are all 4gb, and on hynix chips i get about 28 mh/s, 8gb cards typically ship with samsung chips and they go up to 31 mh/s but at an increased power consumption required to clock memory higher. Both options are good imo, mostly depends on what's the price of gpus you are buying.

depends on the price

rx 580 8gb gonna cost almost 400 AUD - does 24.5 m/h stock
rx 570 4gb cost $310 - does 22 m/h stock.

I would prefer 480 8gb if i could find them, alas, i could not. 570 4gb not too bad at all.

thanks for the answers

no problem

best advice for any new miner imo is this:

- ignore the FUD about eth POS
- learn how to mine BEFORE you spend money on hardware (use what you have already)

also, minergate is a pretty shitty pool but has a great GUI to get your feet wet.

What gpus do you have right now?

rx 470 4gb, gtx 1070 and gtx 1080

I currently have access to RX 580 8gb which costs around 300 yuros, you think it's worth investing in them or should I wait a couple of weeks when RX 570s for 250 yuros become available?

I wouldn't count on them being much cheaper if at all, I tried to buy some rx 570s recently and I was told the avaliability will be very limited until july...

I live in the dorm and I'm paying a flat rate on electricity, so it's basically free. What should I do to turn out profit?

anyone have success with this Antminer S5 1150Gh/s ? would this work well for mining eth? really wanna get into the mining game

mining is gay. just buy it because the ups will mame profit.
spend 1000 on gpus to make 50 a day or spend 1000 on etc and watch it rise daily?

Antminer is BTC-only asic, it cannot mine eth and pretty sure S5 is seriously outdated by now.
Look up into the thread there's advice on how to get onto gpu mining.

It's hard as fuck for me to buy bitcoin in my country they want me to pay an extra 50% pretty much per coin and the s5 is in my budget I'm not gonna go pay more than that on a miner

ur mined eth will also rise

is 1150Gh/s good enough to mine coins what kind of return would i see?

>GH/s

Pretty sure you meant just H/s with that ol 8800GTS from your grampa's computer.

On a serious note, 1150 GH/s, or 1.15Th/s would make you a rich man mining whatever coin except BTC.

according to info i quickly googled, s5 uses about 600w of power and genrates 1150gh/s, assuming you pay for power you will generate negative revenue with that one

coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator/?h=1150.00&p=600&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=595921917085.41600000&r=12.50000000&er=2422.74940000&hc=0.00

this is the one im looking at buying

never wait. rx 580 mines 4-5 bucks a day anyway

also i pay a standard flat rate for power every quarter so my power bill would only rise by 1-5 dollars a month

meanwhile i mine 7 eth per month...

how you do that?

if I had free power, easy decision, antminers, the 12 t/h ones, as many as i could afford/fit.

just remember guys, mining is noisy and causes lots of heat - also, it pulls plenty of amps - i tripped the breaker on one of my circuits.

ill have a look into 12t/h ones now then

Any advice for nvidia mining on win10? I have a 1070 but can't seem to get more than 15 mh/s mining ethash.

Trade for rx480/580, read the thread

You must have anniversary update installed to get good hashrate for eth on nvidia, but if you have 1070 there are better coins to mine than eth.

You can reply by writing >>[post number] or clicking on the post number. Makes it easier for lurkers to follow.
I'm interested in the same thing. At that hash rate, which altcoins should one mine if electricity cost is not a factor?

you need the latest drivers - will pull 25 stock using claymore.

nvidia - zcash
amd - dual mine eth and SIA

power use doesn't vary too much on GPU mining. If power wasn't a factor I would buy an ASIC and mine BTC

honestly guys, google is your friend.

basic guide:

pool: nanopool is good
miner: claymore
wallet: standard eth wallet - don't mine to an exchange

if you can - use ubuntu with AMD cards

>wallet: standard eth wallet - don't mine to an exchange
Is mining to an online wallet good to go?

How big is the electricity bill?

>rx 470
You mean 8000mhz memory? Found this Sapphire Nitro OC Radeon RX 470 1140Mhz PCI-E 3.0 8192Mb 8000Mhz 256 bit DVI 2xHDMI HDCP for $500.

Cashed out 50% of my portfolio before the crash last week to buy a rig, pic related - that's it 90% finished. Going to complete it in a few hours when the cpu and extra gpu's get here. Ama.

Well the obvious question, what model are those GPUs?

Also, what MB and CPU?

>big, $7 per day.... adds up
> $500 - what joke, but yes, that's the best card when found at decent price

MSI GTX1070 x6 (for lower power consumption, electricity's pricey here).
MSI Z170A gaming carbon mb
Intel G3900 cpu
2 * 750 watt Platinum PSU.

what GPU risers do you recommend ?

What price is decent? Also saw a couple for $350 but only 6600mhz.

Sorry if this is a dumb question...when I see these gpu's they are in a case and have fans and shit on them. I've been wondering if you can buy just the card that's inside, perhaps even in bulk for cheap off Alibaba?

Then when you put the cards on a common motherboard, build a cabinet and put a small AC unit on the cabinet and cool the whole thing.

This is what they do on cnc machines. Both mills I work on have an electrical enclosure with an air conditioner that sucks the air from the room through a filter and blows straight in.

I gotta think when you buy a gpu, a big part of what you are paying for is the enclosure and the fan. What would you search if you were just looking to buy the guts?

What do you think about the pool vs solo debate? If I'm willing to invest big money, do you think it's worth to go solo? Or should I just give up and find a good pool because I will never be able to compete with chinks.

If you want a built rig mining for you at my place, I can set that up.
Am starting with it since I have a hardware store.

hey guys noob fag here....can you mine on a macbook pro....thank you lads

if your not stealing electricity from the city (protip, they will never notice) your doing it wrong.

Do you attach copper cables to lamp posts like gipsyes?
Kys
Nigger

kek
ofc you can, try to mine BTC macbook are pretty good at it

>I gotta imagine that a big part of the cost is the plastic/metal casing that we've been able to make for 75 years, not the precision nanoscale engraved sophisticated circuit architecture layered down in 13 layers across the chip by multimillion dollar robots

You're not very bright, are you?

kek

Anyone knows how long do we have to make money on mining before it's completely worthless? I am saving up 4k for a setup but I'll take a while...

You better start running for them gpus's user

You must have a lot of hashrate for solo mining to be any good, for ethereum I'd say minimum 200 gpus for solo mining to be worth it over a pool.

How much should I plan to invest in a miner to pull $20/day or so?

I'm thinking about cashing out a chunk of my portfolio to build something decent

Buying now gets you ETH right away, mining frontloads the cost and evens out the rewards over time (so it's likely you get less ETH in the long run).

Was thinking about dropping 2k on a 6 card mining rig. Is it still worth it? Over just dropping the 2k into buying more ETH now.

Considering PoS is coming soon.. Should pay itself off in 3 months but wondering if that will be too late.

>Antminer
>that pic
Subtle

Single rx 470/480 does about 5$ a day.
Nobody knows how long this will be profitable, my lowest profit per day was around 8$, highest over 120$, it's pretty volatile. For me buying eth would've been better than buying miner but can't always predict the future.

Hmm, some good points.

Gotta also factor in the time lost fucking around with the thing as well, into profit. As well as all the leccy bills, part replacement etc, even the cost of the bloody zip ties adds up.

Sure it might pay itself off in 3 months but no good if only get another 3 months out of it before PoS comes.

If I was a neet with endless time then sure, it would probably be worth putting the time in to get it running 24/7, but a working bloke? Meh, probably better just putting the 2k into more ETH now, when I can..

I work full time and have miners running and maintenance as my hobby, but I really like PCs and hardware so it's fine for me, but for someone less experienced I wouldn't suggest building miners, it's more work than most people expect it to be when you want to do things the optimal way.

how

Miner for pascal gpus?

> 200 gpus
Do you mean 200 MH/s? That seems pretty hard to achieve.

He means 200 gpus. 200MH/s is small fry now

My BTC ASROCK 81 Motherboard won't even start when I jump it, is it dead? (Haven't used it in like 2+ years).

The calculator that I used says that I can get $5000 in profit mining ETC per year with 110 mh/s. Is that wrong?

Eventually you won't be able to mine ETH anymore, they are changing to PoS. Not sure when it will happen, but possibly in September or early 2018.

I'm aware of that. I was referring to Ethereum classic, which as far as I know, won't be changing to PoS. And even if let's say, ETC mining ceases to be profitable, I can just find another profitable coin to mine with my equipment, or Is that wrong?

What I want to know is if these mining calculators are to be trusted. I'm a third worlder so $6000 of profit per year for something that's almost like a passive income sounds pretty good to me.

A third worlder is going to have issues getting ahold of the computing power, though.

Been mining zcash, make like 3 bucks a day with a 7870 and a 470

Is Zcash better than NiceHash? I have like 5 bucks made but they haven't paid me yet.

Should i be mining eth instead of zcash? RX 470 owner here

what software/pool are you using? i have a 7970 and would like to start mining

Zcash is an actual coin, nicehash is a miner that mines a variety of coins depending on whats most profitable afaik.

Im using flypool for zcash

Well, I was thinking about getting something like 4 rx 470, which should cost me around $1,5k. Do you think it won't be enough?

bois, dont even think about starting a mining operation on ETH now, the ethereum "ice age" has begun and the difficulty will increase exponentially until the network is 100% PoS (no more mining)

Mine.

Same thing was said a year ago, difficulty topped, gpus went out of stock, mining became barely profitable. Listened to retards instead of getting 100s of ETH by now.

I am not sure, better to run some numbers in the calculator of whatever software you plan to use for mining, NiceHash has a nice one.

Can i send my Mining rewards directly to my hardware wallet ?

>then again... 40-50 USD a day approx isn't bad...
I take it you aren't american?

is it BTC? then no. Too many UTXO's on a hardware wallet from small increments could take a long time to sign on a Ledger or Trezor.

If it's Ether though, you're fine.

Are any upcoming coins even mineable?

Side question: Is cloud mining worthwhile?

I keep getting this error. How would I go about fixing it? pastebin.com/fkdDWPzQ

You have to factor in the future user.
Moving from PoW to PoS
Difficulty changes

But do you think every coin will move to PoS? For example, it seems that Ethereum classic will keep being PoW

> Nvidia
> ETH
Google ZEC, user.

i have a radeon r9 290, should I bother installing ubuntu and mine eth?

Yes, but you will have to find a good pool.
