Britain's involvement in WWII

>Be British
>Kill some wops
>Sit on a beach for a few days while an entire country fights and dies to cover your flank
>Run away with help of civilians
>Hide in your own country
>Work as America's military postal service
>Surrender en masse to starving Japs
>OI WE WON THA SECOND WALD WA' WE DID WE DID
Why do British people think they almost single handedly won WWII, let alone contributed anything? Has English inbreeding gone too far?

>be /int/poster
>shut down any discussion on the world wars with shitflinging and dank memes lmao
thanks for making a new thread this time i guess

> be British
> voluntarily defend another nation's territory with your own troops
> be defeated
> live to fight another day, instead of capitulating at the drop of a hat
> single-handedly defeat the Kriegsmarine
> single-handedly decapitate the Luftwaffe
> single-handedly defeat the Italians and then the Afrika Korps
> single-handedly stop the Japanese advance through SE Asia
> meanwhile calmly wait for our 'ally' to get its finger out its arse and fight
> hand-hold and train the Americans through their first battles in Africa

Americans can't win wars on their own, this is widely known. You need British intelligence and strategic nous to get anything done.

You merely supplied the materiel.

/thread

/int/ became worthless when Veeky Forums was created, even /trv/ is a much better board.

>voluntarily defend another nation's territory
>As soon as the enemy shows up run all the way to the beaches pronto

>Live to hide and be a good Atlantic shipping service for US to take charge of the Western front

>Beat the Italians
You also put your boots on, woop dee fuckin' doo, wanna medal for breathing successfully next?

> single-handedly decapitate the Luftwaffe
>French did over half of that while letting you catch a tan

>single-handedly stop the Japanese advance
Battle of Singapore, Australia outperfomed you at all turns, etc.
"Th-They're our colony!! Commonwealth!!!!"
>Colony is a better fighter than it's colonizer
Pathetic

>meanwhile worryingly wait for your 'ally' to come get us out of the bunkers we're cowering in in our own country and at least attempt to get us to fight competent enemies
FTFY

>British
>Intelligence
Oxymoron.
And "strategic nous" sure worked at Operation Market Garden, and Gallipoli in WWI. You fuckers can't plan out your day let alone strategize for a military conflict.

Not to mention bulk of africa, SE asia and mid east fighting was done by natives from india and pakistan.

>even /trv/

Uh, /trv/ is a great board.

>tiny island nation
>expect them to fight and win a war against two superpowers on fronts on opposite sides of the planet
>without any help

K

>British
>killing Italians prior to Dunkirk

Why do Bongs pretend they're a tiny nation? Britain was a nation of 46 million people, and with the empire, they had a population of 425 million people.

Yeah memes aside OP could'nt even get that right

>single-handedly defeat the Kriegsmarine
Uh huh. I'm sure the USN totally didn't lend a hand in helping to win the Battle of the Atlantic that didn't even decisively conclude until somewhere around 1943-1944 after the Americans joined in. The Royal Navy also totally didn't beg the USN to lend them a ton of destroyers and escort carriers to combat the Kriegsmarine because they were handling it all fine on their own.

>single-handedly decapitate the Luftwaffe
The RAF stopped the Luftwaffe from attack Britain, that's about it. The majority of Luftwaffe aircraft were shot down in the later years when the USAAF joined the skies and shot them down during their bombing runs over Germany.

>single-handedly defeat the Italians and then the Afrika Korps
Implying defeating Italians is a memorable feat. I also don't recall Montgomery single handedly defeated the Afrika Korps before the US landed in North Africa in Operation Torch in 1942. And I'm pretty sure the Americans were also part of the Tunisia campaign which forced the surrender of the North African Axis troops.

>single-handedly stop the Japanese advance through SE Asia
I recall the British surrendering en masse in Singapore and the Burma Campaign wasn't even won until late 1944-1945. Most of the fighting was done by colonials too. It accomplished nothing of strategical value. The US pretty much carried the Pacific Theater by destroying the IJN, sinking merchant ships, bombing the hell out of their cities and infrastructure, and creeping right up to the home islands that the IJA is forced to recall most of their troops, weapons, and supplies to the home islands.

>d I'm pretty sure the Americans were also part of the Tunisia campaign which forced the surrender of the North African Axis troops.
Ah yes, Kesserine pass where Shermans met Tigers and burnt out

>single-handedly defeat the kriegsmarine
It took both the US and Royal Navies to combat the U boat scourge. Don't forget that the United States spammed Britain with liberty ships and whatnot to cover for their early losses.

>single-handedly decapitate the Luftwaffe
Yes, they bloodied them when they intruded, but this is probably the most false out there. All of their fighters had stupidly short ranges, and couldn't do jackshit against the Luftwaffe. Of course the relatively lightly armed and armored RAF bombers flew at night, but it was American bombers that flew during the day. The beginning of the end of the Luftwaffe was likely the Big Week offensive, when P-51s were brought in and started directly decimating the Luftwaffe in the day instead of sneaking and dropping bombs on cities.

>single-handedly defeat the Italians and then the Afrika Korps
Don't forget Operation Torch and the Battle of Tunisia. Don't forget tanks like the Sherman and aircraft like the P-40 were heavily used by the British in North Africa.

>single-handedly stop the Japanese advance through SE Asia
Meh, the United States helped too, don't forget the Flying Tigers were among the first to successfully BTFO nihon aircraft while everyone else was getting BTFO. Don't forget it was the United States who bloodily fought for island after island in the middle of no where to get to Japan while all the other nations chilled in Europe, which the United States also participated in.

This image is interesting, where did it come from?

(pic-related)

I love this pic. It really shows the Brits are huge hypocrites for mocking french performance in the war.

we just enjoy pissing off french faggots

> Single-handedly decapitate the Luftwaffe

>be British
>use foreign pilots, because you lack your own
>they defend your home and score top marks
>after war send them check for every plane lost
How can one be so pathetic scum, is it some kind of gift?

This is not even a controversial topic, and ti drives me insane in the sense that it's the sort of ethnocentric posting that makes Europeans hate Americans on here.

One may question whether the Brits had any reason to enter WW 2 (they clearly did not care about the territorial integrity if Poland or would not have ceded it to the Soviets), whether it was worth the cost (losing the Empire) and exactly what was gained other than a mass transfer of wealth to the US.

Having sai that, the role of Bletchley Park (despite being somewhat exaggerated in the recent film "The Imitation Game"), MI 6, and the Brit SAS were indeed crucial to the Western fight in that victory.

For anyone who hasn't read it yet, would highly recommend what is considered sort of the definitive history of the CIA called "Legacy of Ashes." The CIA, in seeking to mode itself after MI 6 never really succeeded. At this point, the CIA has far fewer responsibilities and far less prestige within the Beltway than they had before 9/11.

Which is perhaps why they are pushing so hard for any sort of conflict with Russia (even if it might bring a 3rd World War and the end of human life on the planet). CIA was set up with the essential job of watching the Soviets and predicting their next action. Yet someone, they managed to completely miss the fact in the late 1980s that the USST was collapsing (partially due to their own agents turning rogue, like Hansen, and partially through other agencies with links to CIA information like Jonatan Pollard, who reportedly transferred scripts to Israel who then traded the intel to the USSR in return for the release of 5 Jewish scientists to Israel nd resulted in the entire US operation in Moscow being rolled up.

Also, the Brits suffered fairly substantial damage to some cities and infrastructure (at least in proportion to the US) and played undoubtedly the leading role in North Africa against Rommel .

So, no, cannot agree with you on numerous points.

>it's another "actually expecting the French to fight for France is too much to ask for" episode

*addendum-- having said that, I do not ascribe to what some Brit Researcher s for to as "The Bond Delusion" regarding the Brit military and security service. That is, the idea the the UK can have no aircraft carriers, barely a functioning army, have Us aircraft and pilots flying almost all their mission from US airbases in the UK disguised as RF bases, and still claim to be a great military power. Whatever their role in WW 2, the UK is certainly no longer a military power and should the Argentinians decide on a whim to invade the Falklands tomorrow, would be absolutely nothing the Brits could do except complain to UN.

They pulled exactly the same shit in the Napoopan Wars

At least in WW2 they were the main presence on the Southern Front (AKA Mediterranean Theater).

Though honestly the US played a huge part there too, and so did the other Allies.

I enjoy doing the same. Here is the pic showing the defeat of your great Royal Navy against the Japanese one.

>imperial japan
>superpower

The fact it doesn't exist still makes it less cancerous than /int/

Wew lad. The Argentine navy is probably worse these days than it was during the war. Meanwhile the British have an actual garrison there now.
