I don't know where you're getting this figure because it seems to be totally bogus. The fertility rate of Sub-Saharan Africa is just a hair over 5. Meaning the average Sub-Saharan African woman who lives through her childbearing years would have about 5 kids on average. That INCLUDES the over 60% of SS Africans who still live in rural areas who are rapidly moving to cities where they will invariably have less kids.

The birthrate is calculated births per 1000 people over a year so I have no idea how you're getting a figure like '8' since the actual birthrate is something like 30+.
