The Age of Reason

Since secularization was proven to be right.

Religion is child abuse. Hence they try not to do it nowadays. In enlightened countries anyway.

In France around 1870

...

...

Are you suggesting morality is based on religion? As it certainly is not.

Without it, man decides truth.

>socialists

How can morality be objective if there is not God?

>implying religion was not decided to be truth by generations of men and changing social standards

But I'm sure YOUR version of Christianity is the righteous, truly original word of god.

There's but one God and that is society

Sola Scriptura, bitch.

> French Third Republic
> socialist

That's not very moral of you to say.

Man decides morality with or without religion

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

When people figured out that state secularism is one of the best ways to keep a population with different religions and rival sects within religious traditions from going at each other's throats and leading you towards Thirty Years War-tier interfaith violence and instability. If the state can strongly favor one religious tradition over others and promote it with state power, it creates a massive incentive for other faiths to grab and consolidate as much power as possible. Secular schooling is a way of defusing that, because there's few things that make parents from Religion A flip shit more than the idea that their kids are getting indoctrinated with Religion B.

Suppose that we can only gain morality from religion, how do we know which religion is right?

Why did you change the subject?

With it, man decides the truth and then pretends it came from somewhere besides man.

I wasn't discussing any other subject to begin with

God these Christian Grocery Cart Windshield Wiper Tracts are always so cringy and full of delusions of persecution.

Like, you guys are still 90% of the population, and it is still political suicide to believe anything else.

At least the Early Christians actually had to deal with being a religious minority in their own lands. That's when it was Realest.

Christianity is currently the most persecuted religion in the world.

It isn't objective if there is a god you fucking brainlet

When science started being taught.

The best question would be "do we follow God became he knows what is morally right, or is what is what God commands moral?"

>When did it begin?

1776

Billions strong, and the official religion of nearly every nation in the developed world, and the majority religion in all but one. The dominant religion of the western world and has remained so for nearly two millennia.

Christianity is the prosecutor, not the prosecuted.

People just feel more self-righteous when they claim a victim complex, however unjustified.

Do you count yezidi as christian?

I think Christianity can go fuck itself but don't be fucking retarded

Christianity being the majority religion in the first world does nothing for Christians stuck in the third world where serious and widespread religious persecution still exists.

...

...

Are these ironic or serious?

Isn't it usually Christians protesting the "secularization" of whatever?

Dead serious

why do they always depict prehistoric humans as stupid cavemen?

they were obviously very intelligent because they were able to survive in really harsh and hostile environments

> Q. What happens when an anti-God, atheistic, evolutionist dies?
> A. Absolutely fucking nothing.

> Q. What happens when a Bible-believing, born-again Creationist dies?
> A. Absolutely fucking nothing.

you americans are funny people

Lies. Judaism is the most persecuted, followed by Islam.

Here we go.

Another martyr olympics...

Your right

Actually around the 1700s, around that time the dark ages meme was created too.

t. Ledditor

Yet Atheist are the first ones to go "HUR DUR YOUR STUPID NEOLITIC FAIRY TALE CREATED BY STUPID CAVEMEN"

I didn't, it simply started to be treated equally as other religions. Notice we don't teach kids Islamic flavored creationism in school either. Whats happening is that people often have an instinctual belief that rights and freedoms are a finite physical resource, and thus if someone else gains them you are by default losing them. See how much the gay marriage debate was opponents of it saying that somehow straight marriage was going to become illegal. What we have today is not "secular bias" but christians who are no longer getting bias in their favor wrongly believing that not having power over others is the same as them having power over you.

>>Bias
>>you believe a thing therefore your argument is invalid even though it's correct
what is wrong with americans

>treats secularism like the default mode of thought

It might or might not be "default", but it is "blank" for sure.

>secular/atheistic
>implying these are remotely the same thing

>collage enrolment

Man literally wrote and edited the bible to fit to a certain Christian majority among the Church fathers present at the council of Nicea

>ITT
>Problems only Americans have

What even is an "atheistic" society? Like Stalinist Russia that tries to wipe out religion in favor of a non-religious but no less dogmatic state ideology? No thanks. I value human life too much for that.

And if you're against a secular society you're a fucking retard. Nobody will guarantee that you'll always be the majority. And when you're not part of the majority religion in a religious country they will fuck you. Why would you want that for anyone you goddamn lunatic, let alone make it possible for that to happen to YOURSELF?

there is no evidence for objective morality. it comes down to semantics. what is "religion"?

personally, I see a moral realist as someone who is religious, as they are making a leap of faith to assume that morality is real.

So go over to Pakistan or China or Iraq and leave Chick Tracts under windshield wipers there, instead of litterally preaching to the converted.

Morality IS real. If it wasn't human society wouldn't work the way it does, or at all. Doesn't have to be objective though.

Nice lucky trips though.

He won't do that because it's his ass on the line. It's almost like it sucks to be the minority in a heavily religious country. Hmm.

Thanks for sending all of your looney protestants over here.

np, homie. You also got a lot of the wacky Catholics from Ireland and Italy.

Secular bias is an oxymoron.

Just because you believe in something doesn't make it real. If it did, religion would be right.

Morality is a lie we tell ourselves to make life livable. It has an evolutionary benefit just like religion did. But religion was what we used as proof of morality.

Science has zero evidence of objective morality. It's just an idea, and a relative, subjective one at that.

He's doing that already, with religion he's just lying about it.
