Someone post that dapper as fuck Cardinal watching an ongoing naval battle from a port.
That mother fucker was fly as hell, and if I was a cardinal I would dress up like that all the time.

Why even live?

What am I looking at here?
I think these are nationalist soldiers from the spanish civil war.
Sometimes I wonder does Osprey checks between what was really worn and what was used in iconography of Orthodox churches.
It's the defensive stance they would have used. His left leg would have been closer to the enemy whilst his right leg would have been mostly behind him.

I had a hardback book like this back in the 90s, that was something of an anthology of military history, with a lot of accompanying text and information. It was a4 sized, had Sumerians in it, one page had three different hoplites, another had republican Roman marines fighting Carthaginian or Macedonian hoplites, Carthaginian I believe. It had all kinds of stuff in it, and I've never seen any of the illustrations online but they were all in the osprey style. The cover might have had a Roman centurion with a side facing crest and a big hold title, but I'm not sure. The book was of comparable size and thickness to spacebase 2000. I can't find anything on it online, anyone ever come across it?
Any details on this? Don't recognise the style at all.
Pretty sure that's Halstatt culture IIRC.

Do the danish man-at-arms has any plate under the orange garb?
well obviously smart guy but it's also obvious that if he could afford to armor the other leg, he would. But clearly he had to make a budget choice and choose the more vulnerable leg instead of armoring them both
As you can see around his crotch, he has Mail under the orange garb

That wizard looks pretty cool
Byzantines look fly as fuck.
Such an interesting aesthetic. Greek, Roman, Slavic and Eastern at the same time
Indeed. Thank you very much for posting these.
Was just looking at this in my ancient history class while looking for Hetitte soldiers.
