Did people really dress like this? What did they do during the summer? That's so many layers, they must have sweated a lot.
Did people really dress like this? What did they do during the summer? That's so many layers...
This was before global warming.
It's more comfortable than it looks. You acclimate.
Earth was further from the sun then
Natural fabrics "breath" and don't get horribly sweaty like synthetic fabrics do.
Also, it used to be the fashion to dress like your pic most of the day but to change into an even more formal suit for dinner.

>you will never be a jewish street boy and beat the shit out of any mick that steps into your ethnically homogeneous yiddish speaking neighbourhood
>you will never be a jew-
Yeah thank fuck for that goy.
This is partly true tho just in case anyone thought it was supposed to be ironic
>Natural fabrics "breath" and don't get horribly sweaty like synthetic fabrics do.
Wtf? You realize people still mostly wear "natural fabrics" today, right? Do you think cotton and wool are synthetic?
They just took layers off senpai, and yes, they sweated a lot. This is why they carried kerchiefs.
Scotsman here, this guy is going to get pneumonia.
Because back then, sweat was just something people did. It wasn't considered odd or off-putting at all. It was only with the invention of deodorant (and especially the advertisement of such products which made body odor "bad") plus the invention of air conditioning that people starting considering sweat an undesirable process of the human body.
That, and much more emphasis was placed on proper dress codes back in the day. A man was not a man if he didn't wear the proper attire of his station. And since you're going to end up sweating no matter what, you might as well look dapper while you do it.
The European Right Wing Coalition (ERWC) which had controlled world politics after its defeat of the Asian Traditionalist Society (ATS) and the Islamist Society of Constantinople (ISC) decided that this was the best way to oppress people by forcing them to wear overtly inconvenient clothes and justify it through propaganda which depicted it as "proper" behavior. This of course only lasted as long as the ERWC was still a major player on the world stage but this ended when its last puppet Nazi Germany was defeated by the Globalist Jewish Illuminati (GJI).
>Scotsman here, this guy is going to get pneumonia.
Don't be ashamed of your Asian ancestry, Gurdeep. It's relevant to disclose it in a case like this, when you exaggerate the coldness of some mild island.
It's amazing what 2-3 degrees does. I moved from south texas to north texas the difference between temps remaining at 90 degrees in the first two weeks of October versus north texas where it drops into the high 80s in late September is unbelievable.
If it was 3 degrees cooler 100 years ago, and cities had more foliage and less 'heat desert' problems from black asphalt, I could see the clothing being manageable.
Nobody under 60 wears wool shirts or pants unless they're an unwashed hipster or from the backwoods. Or both.
Or they're wearing a suit you retard.
Underrated
>did people used to wear suits
Yes.
>implying most people arent wearing polyester or nylon mixes at best
They put polyester, spandex, and other synthetics in fucking everything now.
Most clothing is like 70% cotton 30% polyester.
Suits and coats have synthetic lining.
A proper light wool suit and a proper light cotton shirt are much more breathable than you'd think. Your perceptions are just warped by how most shitty mass-produced clothing is made from cheap synthetic fibers which might as well be plastic bags when breathability is concerned.
source: I live in Italy (Mediterranean climate) and can wear suits in any season with no problems. Also my father is a tailor.
With few exceptions the average clothes of ages past were of far superior (when new) quality than average modern clothes.
This is true of many other things but particularly clothes since natural fibres and the clothes being properly fitted and made-to-measure was the (inevitable) standard when now those are upmarket options chosen by the elites.
Of course those things also represented a far higher proportion of the income of average users and (being less disposable) they saw more wear and repairs. This also made people more conscious and prouder of wearing "respectable" clothes which meant it was more important socially.
What the fuck do you think they did? Stay outside all day?
By the time suits like this became "everyday fashion", air conditioning had been invented and was already used in the cities. People living where there was no AC (farms and shit) wouldnt wear suits all the time
Yeah, but they also wore longer underwear to catch more sweat and get more use out of their clothes between washes.
Also, the guy in the picture looks fucking crazy.
Well, the pic is apparently a mugshot from Australia circa 1920, so yeah.
Global warming has always existed, user.
Summer clothing was unlined and used lighter fabrics like cotton and linen
The Highlands get Nordic-tier cold lad
No, most people dressed with a modicum of taste.
top kek
>Nobody under 60 wears wool shirts
Wool is a pretty good fibre for outdoors clothing
>or pants
pic related
Why the fuck were old mugshots so aesthetic? Like that looks like something from a movie.
That's just how people looked back then.
reviewbrah is willing to sweat to be a cut above the rest..
...
Still doesn't explain why women dress like degenerates
Is that's what's causing global warming?
