Is he the most overrated personality in history?

Is he the most overrated personality in history?

Obviously not in historical impact, but literally the only thing he was good at was seizing power. He left no lasting thing for Germany (outside of some projects that dated to Weimar, but nothing original), his administration was a mess, his oratory was memorable more because of the way he said things but never said anything particularly insightful, and during the war he made strategic error after strategic error to the point where even his generals considered him a complete dolt.

He is like the drunken uncle who accidentally sets fire to the house.

He's overrated by stormfags. Pretty much every historian specializing in the Nazi history mentions how mediocre he was. He was really lucky.

>Had an awful moustache
>Wrote an awful book
>Only fucking skill was public speaking
>Got paranoid and off'ed Rommel
Yeah fuck him

The Jews, liberals and commies (These categories can overlap) obsess over him to weird hate worship levels. That's the reason he's overrated.

>shitty painter living by copying postcards
>consider himself a grew misunderstood artist

This.
He should've been the orator for another, better "Fuhrer"

this

>and during the war he made strategic error after strategic error to the point where even his generals considered him a complete dolt.
How to spot someone who hasn't actually looked into the topic.

the only thing he was good at was seizing power
Retarded thread.

Even by the standards of Veeky Forums.

>mein feels

Considering how many people his horde murdered in such short time it's easy to see why people hate him.

Never forget the Holocaust goyim!

Your grandfather (maybe your great-grandfather, you seem a bit edgy) was a humble man. He went to school and worked a part time job. He didn't know about geopolitics. He didn't care about the Sudetenland, but he believed that it was wrong to kill innocents.

So when his nation was attacked and dragged into the century's madness, he quit his job, he left his girl to be fucked by jody, and he left his mother crying and got on a bus to the other side of a continent, where he was beaten and drilled and dieted until he was ready to kill. He'd never shot a man before but inside of 3 months he was on a beach doing just that. He watched his friends old and new die in common, utterly understandable, and completely brutal ways. He lived through the sort of Hell that only man can make. He may have seen the extermination camps, but most of those were on the eastern front - left for the Stalinists to take over.

Your flesh and blood went through hell. He spent the rest of his life having nightmares of ruined cities and German bayonets. He could never bring himself to confess he where he learned the phrase, "food prostitution," nor how often he paid so little. After all, most casualties were caused by starvation. He carried the shame and the regret and the nightmares with him his whole life.

But he never regretted it. He accepted the butcher's bill because he knew Nazism -blind hate, genocide, fascism- he knew these things would cover the world and destroy all good. He could smile whenever he saw his children growing up safe and free, with minds and morals unclouded by hate, with bellies fat with prosperity.

And here you are. And here you are, with a mind so atrophied you can't form a coherent thought, but you bitterly ape a dead man's hate to make yourself feel better about how your aspirations go another year, uncompleted and your dreams grow dimmer. Grandpa paid a dear price for the life you wasted.

You know it's weird how basically the salesman/press secretary of a fringe party eventually comes to completely control it and later on the entire country.

>literally the only thing he was good at was seizing power.
It's true. He was a genius orator and political manipulator, but that's where his genius ends.

Militarily and economically, he was a disaster. He owes his early successes in these fields to the brilliant Wehrmacht Generals and to Hjalmar Schacht, both of which he eventually overrode with disastrous consequences... disastrous military defeats in the first case... and crippling inflation, shortages and rationing on the latter.

A victorious Nazi Germany would have resulted in an impoverished, North-Korea-like Europe.

>Even with a shitty leader the german people managed to fight against the strongest power of the world for almost 5 years

Holy shit we should all submit to the german ubermensch

war is awful, but we cant completly reject it
if someone is violating our rights, our culture, nation, ideas, we cant cry about how fighting with each other is very painful and uncomfortable. What we must to do is protect our values and destroy aggressor, just as he is destroying us.

the world is not a peaceful place, and stopping war will not cause stop other dirty deeds. some group of people must be aware if they cross the line, some guys will beat them.

Was it that too much spending in arms?

Yes, by 1938 they were spending 17% of GDP on the military, which is already insane, and it would climb to 23% in 1939, 47% in 1941, 55% in 1942 and 61% by 1943.

But it's more than just about the spending, Allied military spending also went through the roof in those years. The problem with Germany was the rampant statism that started with the dismissal of Schacht and the introduction of the Four-year Plan.

Göring was given full control over the German economy including the private sector, even though he knew next to nothing about economics. Factories were nationalized, the government took control of critical industries and begun building refineries, aluminum plants and meddling in other sectors, as well as interfering with the normal market system. The death penalty was introduced for "economic sabotage" and private companies basically had many of their earnings stolen to pay for the war effort.

The result was massive inflation, shortages and many of the problems we've seen in other socialist/communist command economies.

So the improvements under Speer can be boiled down to he wasn't Goring?

Hes overrated by jews, if jews never existed Hilter would be Im sorry who? tier.

Hilter didnt kill for no reason, the jews and non whites were a problem in Germany so he had to do something about it.

Göring was made a Reich Plenipotentiary whose jurisdiction cut across the responsibilities of various cabinet ministries, including that of the Minister of Economics and Minister of Armaments, both Walther Funk and Albert Speer were subordinates of him.

And there was no improvement of the German economy until the Marshall Plan.

>A victorious Nazi Germany would have resulted in an impoverished, North-Korea-like Europe
Come fucking on i mean im not even a nazoboo but this is just blatantly overstating

It's the only logical conclusion stemming from the Nazi's anti-market ideology and the policies they implemented, which were the same implemented in Franco's Spain and Salazar's Portugal.

Spain was a stagnated poor almost-third world economy under Franco's autarky period until he reversed course and started opening up the economy again in the 1960s.

If Hitler had won the policies would have been the same, at least until his death/overthrow.

Jesus Christ 23% Americas doesn't even spend that much I think lol

Meanwhile Stalin was purging millions of his own people and Japan was bayonetting their way through Chinese civilians.

Both of those outnumber how much Germany killed yet nobody gives a fuck about those.

Wasn't it Keynesian economics so some buisness were left to their own devices?

No, Jesus is.

Not even being a Fedora tipper, but if you consider his stated accomplishments in adulthood, discard the apocraphyl shit like Kid Jesus and David Blaine (that tool) has done more impressive shit.

That was Hjalmar Schacht, who presided the amazing 1934-1937 German economic revival until Hitler dismissed him to implement more Statist policies.

He was the economic genius behind Hitler and the reason he was so popular in his early years of government.

I don't think it's that people hate him, just that he's become synonymous with evil. Young people today hate Hitler as much as they hate the Devil, i.e. not really. He's just a symbol now.

>mass murders Jews and commies
>HURR Why do Joos and Reds hate him?

Interesting stuff thanks son /pol/ is filled with literally underage children now but albeit they do have interesting convos every once in a while you just have to dig past the stormwankers who probably aren't even white lol

What do you fags think was the best leader of the 20th century?

That's not really true. Germans killed more people than the Soviets and the Japanese. And let's not forget that Hitler is chiefly responsible for WW2. Stalin was a monster but it was Hitler who convinced him that it's possible to change the post-Versailles status quo.

>lead the most powerful country in Western Europe into annihilation
>see the Germanic race being divided and cucked by Americans and Soviets for 45 years
>all within 12 years

wew

Hitler/The Nazi Party has weirdly enough become a popculture-esque stand-in for anything considered "evil", just look at how the past six months in the US has played out: "Trump is literally Hitler", "Trump supporters are Nazis"; I'm sure similar things are said about other politicians and political parties around the world, all made with a very surface-level understanding of the history of Early to Mid 20th Century Germany. Hitler/Nazi comparisons have become the political equivalent of dick jokes: they're minimum effort and contribute nothing to a conversation.

In essence, Hitler has become a fucking meme.

NSDAP was a meme party. They were made up of failures, retarded larpers and thugs. It wasn't a real party and no one treated them seriously.

Imagine /pol/r9k/ ruling a country. This I exactly what happened in Germany.

Ive heard a lot of people cause WW2 "Hitlers War" (As in it was Hitler/the Nazi Party who really WANTED the war and not so much the German people) does this claim have any validity?

>war is awful, but we cant completly reject it

Humanity is doomed.

Yet people can't stop comparing politicians to them. My point goes back to the OP to say that yes, Hitler is vastly overrated because as someone else in this thread he's become a secular Devil without really earning that title.

Yes, but they weren't exactly sad when their army was winning.

It's a shitty comparison but Trump and Hitler are slightly similar. Both are frauds and demagogues who convinced the nation they are the best option.

What isn't a meme these days

But that's not what drive the comparison. The comparison comes from "Trump wants to control borders so he hates immigrants." Hitler's effects were violent expansion (lebensraum) and genocide.

>the jews and non whites
>implying hitler cared at all about "whites" and not just germans
when will this meme end, Hitler killed tens of millions of white people

Stalin and the Japanese killed people because it was just part of the war. Hitler killed people because he didn't even consider them people.
It's not just a matter of killing people, but why you do that.

That's a lie, you jewish vermin.

Autobahn

I hate Stalin but at least he was a pretty competent leader and all around smart dude.

Hitler was a fucking moron all around.

But son the economy would collapse unless they went around invading and plundering other countries

But at least you could run away at confy highwats.

This. You've clearly never drove on the autobahn if you think it isn't worth going to war for.

Autobahn were literally built for war.

> but literally the only thing he was good at was seizing power.
>he was good at was seizing power.
>seizing power.
>Power

Power is and will always be one of the most invaluable assets any one man/women can obtain and in this case being Hitler, whom had the capability of seizing power of Germany, which has and had a massive economic industrial engine, and would've naturally taken economic dominance in Europe without the World Wars, but i digress.

Problem with Hitler was the fact that he believed he had a Destiny to be this sort of Symbolic 'Father' of this 'Pure Race lead by the Germanic Reich' he even said it would be a "1000 year Reich"
However... This Insane megalomaniac thought EXTERMINATING an entire subset of People while fighting a two front war which the German army had the ability to win but lost because his Narcissistic-"Im der Vater" attitude, thinking he could never be wrong due because he convinced himself to be on this road of Destiny, not knowing it ironically was his own actions that stopped the German Reich from winning the war.

and the Russians.

One of his top tier mistakes is he hated Russians more then Jews

War is hell for everyone and their families, there were good Germans and there were evil Americans. If you're going to argue against the Nazis, argue against their policies and ideas instead of appealing to muh grandpa and farting out a Creative Writing 101 essay. There were plenty of Americans that supported the Germans as well or were at least sympathetic, including Patton.

>There were plenty of Americans that supported the Germans as well
No, there weren't.

Watch this whole speech, he begins to become a parody of himself several minutes in:

youtube.com/watch?v=zu9aBznOIC8

This. Honestly the only reason why Hitler's popularity saw a resurgence in places like /pol/ was because the kikes demonized him so much it became edgy and cool to like him. Jews are 100% to blame for this.

Saying I LIKE HITLER now is like saying FUCK GOD AND FAMILY in the 60s, just counter culture to the maximum.

There were at least some. My point was that the grandpa story on the original comment was lame as fuck and held no solid argument.

America peaked at 41% in WW2.

That's cool, but there's no need to overstate that. In fact, the 1940s saw a huge search for and failed to find any meaningful Nazi sympathizers outside of a few cranks. There was nowhere near the level of defections and double agents that the cold war saw. In fact, AFAIK no intelligence was every passed to the Germans by Nazi Sympathizers. The Bundist movement was pretty much exclusively made up of recent German Immigrants. And to give you the idea of their pull, they made up between 3 and 9% of German Nationals in America. There was, at the time, a tendency to label anyone vaguely skeptical of involvement in the war as pro-German, and this hysteria frequently gets ignored to this day (The House Comittee on Unamerican Activity started by hunting Nazis. They failed to find any, got bored, and started on Commies)

>Is he the most overrated personality in history?
He is the most recent figure to have impacted the most important culture producers in the world:
UK
France
Russia
and
USA

Thus, he is very important to culture. Just imagine how much cultural space Napoleon took before the turn of the 20th century or even to this very day, depending on what countries you ask.

That's cool!

Stalin is still liked in Russia, because he led them in GPW. He didn't exactely deserve the credit but that's another story.

Imperial Japan is still hated in China just as Hitler is in Europe. It's just your chickenbrain that can't realize that there are people outside of first world who don't view the world so Eurocentric as we do.

>Hitler killed tens of millions of white people
woo wee buddy, by that logic, Churchill and Roosevelt killed tens of millions of white people too

Russians were simply pawns of the Jews, but it wasn't until recently they escaped that enslavement. Hitler simply never believed they would turn from communism.

He wasnt wrong about the communism paer

>MUH FREE MARKET
>MUH KILL ALL STATISTS

Fucking kill yourself. The economic aspects of fascism were one of its good things. The reason Spain was impoverished was because it just came out of a civil war. Also Spain is free market today, its still not doing well economically. The reason Portugal was in a shit situation was because Salazar invested money into keeping the Portuguese colonies just because he wanted Portugal to look big on a map.

>ITT: da joos da joos
Jesus Christ, Veeky Forums is such a failure.

>He left no lasting thing for Germany

Wut?
The entire european white guilt and blind acceptance of islam and mass migration is his legacy

>He thinks the "Spanish Miracle" had nothing to do with Spain ditching autarky and embracing the free market
kys statist

How can an economic system fail so much throughout history and still get defended by retards like you?

But that's absolutely true.

>The entire european white guilt and blind acceptance of islam and mass migration is his legacy
reddit

What? The State Capitalism used by Germany and Italy didn't fail, their armies failed because there was no way they could take on the whole world and win. The PRC uses State Capitalism right now and its beating America.

I didn't know China was an autarky country with price controls, a majority of state owned industries, and little foreign trade

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autarky

Fucking leftist shitheads, I studied this shit... stop talking of things you have no idea about.

Autarky is possible if you have enough resources, old colonial empires in the mercantalist era were essentially autarkies.

Germany went autarky because it was embargo'd since it was at war with half of the world, dingus, otherwise it had trade.

>I studied this shit
>spending money on a worthless degree of bourgeois propaganda

lmao

Great argument. Really wonderful one. But there are two little errors.

>Neither Churchill or Roosvelt were responsible for starting the war
>Neither Churchill or Roosvelt ordered genocides against whites

>Inb4 muh strategic bombing
not a genocide
