The biggest intellectual plague is the idea that everything has formed in a bubble. Like some sort of impassable barrier existed between Europe, Asia and Africa during the ancient world. It leads to incorrect sediments like "Christianity is a Jewish religion that was imposed upon Europeans, everything Greek applies to all Europeans, ect." The truth is that all civilizations formed thanks to cultural diffusion between multiple groups of people and the exchange of ideas.

Part of this phenomena is blowback from the excess of globalism, egalitarianism, internationalism, and cosmopolitanism in our lifetime. While I understand it, I'm against it because it leads to a poor understanding of history.

From my own experiences, it seems to me that most of the people who are so self hating tend to be either extremely compassionate or manipulative. The compassionate ones buy in whole sale into western liberal philosophies about equality and fairness, but stop short of actually learning critical thinming and so develop a guilt complex when they learn about the violent or shameful things commited by western cultures in the past. They take on personal responsibility for crimes commited by people they had zero say in being associated with (sins of the father). The other types see it as a way to exercise a degree of influence over others and fall in love with perceived moral authority granted to them by what they see as a vehicle to right past injustices by commiting new injustices. Truthfully group dynamics and a lack of individual awareness seem to be more respinsible for this latest fad of antiwestern thought than any sort of academic merit their platforms seem to possess.

Depends on what you define as "it's" culture, considering that most of the cultural references that are presented to the population are inforced by the burgeois as being representative of what it's like to be "civilized". Fashion, music and lifestyle is not representative of the desire of the people, but rather imposed by the ruling class as patterns to be followed. Cultural manifestations change based on the economic interests of the elite, and the supposed "uniqueness" and "individual identity" ideas presented by fashion are intrinsecally related to a lack of substance, and a never ending existential void. That's what the people hate, not their traditions.
I suggest you study the relation between the romanticism movement and the industrial revolution, representing the enforced abandoning of tradition and an enforced loss of connection of society to itself, creating an existential void that could only be defeated by nostalgia of a fantastic imaginary time.
