Why do communists and Jewish people always push the meme that Stalin's genocides, unlike Hitler's, weren't motivated by race or religion?
Stalin deported over 2 million ethnic Germans from the Volga who had lived there hundreds of years before Hitler was born, simply because they were German. He did the same to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian Cossacks. Of course most died in gulags.
He targeted specific parts of Ukraine for famine via forced exports and collectivisation, and when the famine set in, refused to allow people to migrate from the affected areas.
He led a genocidal campaign against the orthodox church killing 85k orthodox Christians in 1937 alone and reducing the population of orthodox clergy to one twelfth after the rest were executed.
Why do they lie about these, is it because they are unaware or they intentionally seek to mislead the ignorant?

Most of those people collaborated with the Axis over the dislike of collectivisation and socialism in general. And those numbers are terribly over inflated.

Communists in general never defend Stalin, only Stalinists do. He is regarded as a complete drawback for communism and socialism.
What it does happen is that non communists will always attack communism citing Stalin and his wrongdoings, then communists would reply Stalin did not apply communism, or that he only wanted power, that Lenin himself didn't wanted him in a ruling position and so on, and this is always taken as lame excuse ending with "nah, you like communism and Stalin was a communist, period"

The forced starvation in Ukraine also targeted specific groups. The judeobolsheviks believed that farmers were not reliable like the masses in the cities so they made the decision to pacify them through starvation.

Taken into account size of the population, Finns were the most persecuted minority in Soviet Union. They were exiled just like Volga Germans as 'quilty nationalities'. Alone those who were citizens (previously) of Republic of Finland (Reds going to Russia in the 20's and 30's, kidnapped Finnish citizens and WW2 POW) , made over 20 thousand of prisoners, of which over 15000 died in the Soviet concentration camps.

Russians were the second biggest group, Ukrainians the smallest. So quite literally Jews were responsible for the practical part of the Ukrainian genocide, even if it was decided by the Father of nations.
