Anyone else think it's kinda lame that Hitler comitted suicide in the Fuhrerbunker?
I mean, if I were him. I would've armed myself with two machine guns or at least one since his hand kept shaking. I would've kept a cyanide capsule in my mouth so that I would bite into it if I were captured. But I would go out in a blaze of glory.
Imagine if the documentries today would talk about Hitler. Alone in the street with a machine gun taking on squadrons of Russians before he was peppered with lead. Chances are he'd be able to take out a few because I assume some Russians wanted to take him alive.
yeah, it's so badass to be paraded nanked and dead around Berlin with your dick cutoff and put in your mouth
Owen Rodriguez
he was a coward, that's the only reason this didn't happen
Henry Wilson
>Anyone else think it's kinda lame that Hitler comitted suicide in the Fuhrerbunker?
Because he was lame. He didn't have the bravery or dignity to die for the ideology which he championed so hard, and I think that is revealing of some serious personal weakness.
William Richardson
I don't know why but you rant reminded me of the "Goku and Anne Frank fall in love and he fights Hitler" story.
Jace Collins
So instead of taking responsibility and acting as shield for German volk, on which Soviets can vent their anger on he pussied out and chose the easy, painless way.
Truly a man who cares about his people.
Robert Williams
Well, considering that he lead many innocent men women and children to that very fate during the sack of Berlin, the least he could've done is going down in similar fashion
Xavier Lopez
Thing is, he wasn't a 15 yo faggot on Veeky Forums
Bentley Gomez
Seeing Hitler paraded like fucking Ghadaffi would have had an even worse impact.
Doubt that's what they would have wanted of their leader. There is no honor in it. Those men, women and children would have avoided that fate if they could've too.
Colton Baker
Would the soviets have kept him alive for trial or killed him on the spot?
Jose Foster
I would imagine they would torture him endlessly. Probably would restart his heart just to kill him again.
Hunter Flores
Are there any historical examples of national leaders dying in a last stand? The only one I know of is Constantine XI which may or may not have actually happened.
Julian Adams
>"i am 12: the post" kys you turbo autist
James Wright
I think ideally they would have liked to take him alive so they could have a show trial for him in Moscow, but if he actually did join the fighting I doubt he would have been captured alive.
Sebastian Sullivan
modern leaders are cucks, always far removed from the realities on the ground
Xavier Fisher
The reason he killed himself was that it was due to him being a coward and also giving one final middle finger to the allies. All those lives lost just to get to Berlin and what do they get? A dead leader that died instantly with no suffering at all.
Aiden Williams
Hitler didn't care about his people.
Bentley Thompson
Personally I would have strapped a bunch of explosives on my chest, hidden it under an overcoat, and given a soldier an order to detonate it if I was killed or captured. Then stood out in a street with a speaker and give a final speech to the world.
No body to parade, and a few less Russians.
Kayden Davis
The cult of personality can't survive if his body was to be discovered.
One of the reasons his memory infects so many is because all that remain are his speeches and visits which were carefully filmed.
That's why he committed suicide and had himself burned. He knew the image could only survive if he wasn't paraded around naked.
Aiden Powell
Kept him alive, then killed him in Russia
Julian Hill
>wage an entire world war and kill tens of millions for the german people >hitler didn't care about his people
Lincoln Mitchell
that would've been good and funny
should've been hanged by a jew as one last "fuck you"
Alexander Fisher
He strait up told the German people they failed him and deserved it in the last few weeks of his life.
Lucas Gomez
yeah, the last few weeks what about the decade before that
Jordan Smith
>Seeing Hitler paraded like fucking Ghadaffi would have had an even worse impact. For him personally, maybe. For the people, it would've definitely been better to let vengeance be enacted on him, the personification of the hated National Socialism, rather than the German people.
That's why it was a cowardly move to commit suicide.
Luke White
He was probably trying to avoid torture or trying to deny the allies the satisfaction of an execution. Going out in a blaze of glory probably didn't seem fitting to him as the fuhrer.
John Hughes
>Going out in a blaze of glory probably didn't seem fitting to him as the fuhrer. Nazi propaganda literally claimed that he died fighting (in combat), as if he had been in exactly that machine-wielding blaze of glory.
It also liked acting as if he had been that way even before the last days. Actually, right from the start this was part of the propaganda,
and actually even Hitler himself, in his autobiography, tries to create that image of himself.
So, no, that was definitely what he deemed fitting. But he didn't do it, because of a lack of will, because of cowardice.
Joshua Ward
Germans would have gotten fucked sideways either way. It wouldn't have changed anything at all. You're naive if you think russians would have stopped after Hitler.
Leo Butler
Would it have rained honey and marshmallows, if he hadn't committed suicide? No. Would the Germans have been given a comparatively easier time, if justice was enacted on him and the desire for vengeance be reduced a bit? I think so.
Eli Lee
Good for you. Doesn't mean it would have been the case. Germany was NEVER going to get an easy pass or anything remotely approaching that after what they did in Russia and the fate of Hitler is irrelevant to that.
Jace Clark
>le committing suicide is a cowardly move xD
If it is, then commit suicide yourself. What's wrong? Too much of a coward to go through with it?
Brandon Parker
He didn't. There are FBI documents about meeting up with him.
>Nazi propaganda literally claimed that he died fighting (in combat), as if he had been in exactly that machine-wielding blaze of glory.
Wolfenstein isn't Nazi propaganda.
Tyler Gonzalez
>Good for you. Doesn't mean it would have been the case. Herp derp, I can say the same to you, who is making the same type of claims, only phrasing it in language of certainty.
>Germany was NEVER going to get an easy pass Honey and marshmallows, I already addressed those.
> or anything remotely approaching that The question to be asked isn't "would the situation for Germans be good, if I did X?", it's "would the situation be better?"
Eli Miller
>trying to act tough on Veeky Forums of all places
Kevin Brown
>wage an entire world war and kill millions of german people >hitler cared about his people
Josiah Gutierrez
You idiot. He could have fled to Bavaria and hid in the mountain for the rest of 1945 if he wanted to.
He chose to stay in Berlin to die there.
Just days before his death he heard the news of Mussolini getting beaten shit and pissed on and hung upside naked.
It would have been a national shame for Germany.
Not to mention it was somewhat cultural to suicide like the Romans when you failed. This way you were guaranteed not to be captured.
