This is retarded, you have to have some kind of situational awareness and realise that there are dangerous areas where knife crime is common.

If you live in the countryside or in a small town, yeah, sure, there is absolutely no point in doing this, but if I, as a Scot, moved to Govan or the Gorbals or other derelict parts of Glasgow, fuck me I would legit consider getting a mail shirt because I don't want to get stabbed and I know it might well happen. In general, I like Metatron. He doe a lot of cringe things, but generally good for historical and linguistic content. I don't even mind some of the cringiness because it shows that he's passionate about the stuff he's talking about. It's also good that he's educated and is pretty transparent when it comes to talking about his qualifications.

In general, he's not the best (Matt Easton and Knight Errant are both better), but certainly not the worst. He hasn't put out anything nearly as bad as Shadiversity's "my only formal training in martial arts is two months of Tae Kwon Do, but I read The Tao of Jeet Kune Do and that makes me a martial arts expert" and subsequent terrible sparring videos, or Skallagrim's "I tried studying archaeology and it was too hard for me, so I quit and now think I'm better than a field I failed at" video.

This. He said he wears it while going out to clubs where people get drunk and like to start shit. If you know you're going to be in a situation where someone might try to stab you, it's not a bad idea to wear some protection. It's certainly much better advice than most other youtubers would give, and it's not cringey at all, especially compared to some of his other content.

Metatron is "cringey" in a charming and funny way (although he doesn't seem to be doing it ironically), so to me he is not literally "cringey" in the sense that makes me actually cringe.
