Musically, they're pretty bad. If you're literally unable to learn history from anything other than a shitty metal band, then sure, they can be an alright way to learn history. They are to history, what the Big Bang Theory is to science. Not very complicated, but easy to understand and makes people feel like they're ''part of the gang''

Power Metal by definition can't be edgy unless it's like Sonata Arctica or some shit like that. The entire genre is based around having fun and poking fun at cliches.

They're okay. Not as bad as /mu/ would have you believe, but they're not the GOAT of all the GOATs like /k/ would tell you (but /k/ has horrid taste in everything, so it's to be expected).

And like this guy said, A Matter of Life and Death is better than anything Sabaton has put out.

Fun, and since it's power metal you can actually understand the lyrics. Their show is good too, but the exact same every single time so you really can't watch it more than once.

But they are musically shit

The music itself is fairly mediocre, and the English lyrics are awkward and poorly worded the vast majority of the time. Their songs that have Swedish lyrics are much better, although still not amazing. The subject matter is generally interesting, although nothing I wouldn't prefer to learn about from more detailed sources.
