No, of course not. National Socialism (which "nazism" is a contraction of) is the set of ideas that was adopted by the "Nazi party" (the National Socialist German Workers' Party) in 1920s / 1930s Germany.

Many "neo-nazis" exist today - that is, people that adopt the same set of ideas, and revere the NSDAP (German acronym for the National Socialist German Workers' Party).

So in that sense, no, Nazism is not a "spook" - its ideology still exists.

That said, liberals are far too willing to call anybody who is to the right of Leon Trotsky a "Nazi".

This is hyperbole, of course, in order to shut out free and open debate. Somebody can only accurately be described as a "Nazi" if they actively endorse the policies of the NSDAP. As I said, there are indeed SOME people who do this, but the vast majority of Trump supporters (for instance) probably don't even know what the NSDAP even was, and I'm pretty damn sure they don't actively support the idea of putting Jews into gas chambers.

In this sense then, Nazism can sometimes be a spook, certainly. People will make accusations of Nazism where no Nazism actually exists.

That's my overall conclusion then - that Nazism can sometimes be a spook (if the term is applied erroneously, which it often is), but sometimes not (since there are some genuine neo-nazis out there).
