>Poltava

>end up losing one third of your empire anyway

We had already won after war after Narva, it was the kings ego which ruined it

Sounds like a
>germany would had totally won if they did x, y, and z
style excuse to me.

It isn't, the Russian army was utterly destroyed after Narva

We could've either played it defensibly or more daringly moved our army to Russia and we would've had good chances on our side either way.

Unlike Germany

ok but you still lost

Tbh I'm a bit of a swede fanboy, but yeah they really fucked it up. Eh, seem like Russia got lucky with a few good emperors, and were surrounded by failing states.

>win the battle
>lose the war

How is that BTFO?

If would Russians beat Swedes at Narva, Petr´s reforms would probably never happen.

>Sweden

Ahhahahaha. Holy shit Pole really are the worst country at war

No, Sweden was just so legendarily great at it

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovak_invasion_of_Poland_(1939)

Iam not Polish but Czech desu

since when Veeky Forums autocorrects desu to desu

Around the time moot turned Japanese.

Sweden was the proto-Deutschland destroyer of life and beauty before the real Germany rolled around. Is anybody really surprised at all?

Remove Germanics from the premises.

>we
didn't realize you were there

My ancestors, aka my blood. Were certaintly there

>WE

I wonder how things would've been different if the Swedish Empire killed or capturing the Russian army instead of just letting them go, kind of like how the Russians did to the Carolean army at Poltava.

Agreed.
Russia already sent peace terms to Carolus, Peter was to cede all his Baltic possessions, but then Carolus wanted to try his luck and go for a more decisive end to the war. Then the death march in winter to Poltava ended that pretty quickly..

WUZ

>"I have resolved never to start an unjust war but never to end a legitimate one except by defeating my enemies"

Atleast he stayed true to his philosophy

theyd take a visit to stockholm and take most of the land north of it to teach the swedes a lesson never to raise arms against the russian empire ever again

the beauty of a gigantic country is you have men eager to advance in society
endless numbers of infantry for your armies

>tfw the Russian bear could've been killed in its womb were it not for Karl XIIs massive autism

>tfw East Sweden is history, not reality.
