Spanish Civl War Documentaries

Hello, I was wondering if any of you know a good documentary, best if a series, about the Spanish Civil war.

I know that it is near impossible to get something unbiased, so if there is any other option I'll prefer a "pro-República" point of view.

I'm more interested in military action than a political one, it amazes me how the heavier soviet tanks were defeated by the smaller german ones.

Literally nothing else exists. There's always a scene where they go "well that side also commited *some* crimes buuuuuut...."
There should be one documentary on youtube. Like this.

But I see there's some more. I don't know if that's the same under a different title or not.

Thanks a lot, that's something.

I guess there should be a Spanish made doc positive in Franco, I mean, thousands of them cried and weep when he finally died, and if stories are to be believed, taxi drivers over there always wonder what would happen if he lifted his head again.

The war between Monarchists and Republicans was just a continuation of the war in the late 19th century. Only this time with fascists and communists who joined the ride.
If communists/republicans won it would result in a much worse dictatorship (same thing happened in Chile). Not that it absolves Franco although he was smart enough to secure the future for Spain after his death.
Imagine a communist Spain in WWII. Would've looked much different. Probably much more violent. Stalin's strategy would've been totally different.

I think they could have come out as Socialists if wasn't for the war itself. Once it started the Republic had no other option than beg for USSR help.

Maybe if UK or France had offered help with conditions to ensure a socialist government and conditions to avoid it to become a USSR satellite.

True, but Tito was able to break Yugoslavia away from Soviet influence. Although to be fair, it takes balls of steel to tell Stalin to fuck off

This is the absolute GOAT Spanish Civil War documentary

There's a good spanish one on youtube

Espana dividida it's called

I'm Spanish. You cannot find reliable, objective Spanish documentaries on this issue, basically because the left (republicans, anarchists, secessionists) still haven't got over the fact they lost a war they should have won. They had all the ressources and most of the military on their side, yet managed the fuck up because they were incapable of understanding each other. The other side, on the contrary, was well disciplined, organised and had a clear idea what they were fighting for: Spain.

Additionally, 45 year on, these leftists haven't yet come to terms with the fact that Franco ruled the country undisputed for 35 years, dying calmly in his bed...

The end result is that leftists do documentaries just trying to hide their shame. Loyalists just remain silent. Food for thoughts

You sound like an asspained Franocoist because that their papa is dead. Franco was a retard, and in the end he lost because no one wanted his style of government to continue, and everyone wanted a return to democracy. Cuck.

Precisely, that is the problem. All Commies think the rest are pro Franco, which proves they never understood a thing. I don't give a shit about Franco (a retard, indeed) or his regime. But hey, glory to those who, gun in hand, win a war. The rest are called loosers and pussies. Suck it up.

Besides, i still don't understand the permanente glorification of those (including the International Brigades) who wanted to set up in Spain a Sovier Protectorate. How did that work for you ?? Take a road trip inside Russia and then have an opinion on the consecuences of Communism.

That last bit can be blamed on Stalin's censorship of outside news sources during the purges, famines, and mass killings. As far as a lot of people knew, things were going well in the Soviet Union.

>Republicans=! Communist
The Communist merely joined forces with the Republic in the war, they always intended to betray them at the last second to institute either a Soviet style state or an Anarchist one, but the Republicans fought for the democratic tradition and the right's it entailed, and to preserve the system that had been in place before the Civil war. Just like how not everyone on the Nationalist side was
>Wtf i love Fascism now
Not everyone on the Republican side was
>Wtf i love Communism now

Which side got the most experienced unitd and 60k Italian soldiers on their side with massive German materiel aid?

>accuses the left of generalising
>calls all republicans stalinists

yas

>losing to Italians

Mi amigo

German and Italian assiatnce to Nationalists (Franco) both in pesonel and material has long been exagerated, to explain a defeat that should have never been.

Talk about the "massive" Italian aid, these people (as Hitler put them) have always turned out to be unreliable and untrustworthy. Once again, the Spanish Civil War was not won by one side (Franco was a 3rd level officer at the start of the conflict) but was rather lost by the Republicans, incapables of holding their shit together.
