Why does nobody ever talk about Lindy's Rome/Ancient History videos?

Why does nobody ever talk about Lindy's Rome/Ancient History videos?

Is it because they're actually really good?

t. Lindybeige

asked my professor what he thought about Lindybeige and he started laughing.

I bet your professor was a filthy french frog

Its because nothing he says is fact.

He briefly looks at equipment or tactics and hypothesizes how he would run things or how he would use the equipment. Hes entertaining and some of his ideas may have merit but at the end of the day they're just one man's speculations.

Easiest thing in the world is to critique from the sidelines.

It's almost like 90% of Veeky Forums is just repeating the same old tired memes to get the same old response, rather than actually discuss history.

He sounds like a pretentious fuck. Lindy is just a guy who likes history as a hobby, just relax and enjoy it with him in a playful way.

Yes.

On an unrelated note, fuck the French.

reminder that Lindybeige claims:

>no one used swords, axes
>no one used horses
>no one used throwing knives
>no one used double strap arm shields
>no one used scythes
>no one used mail coifs
>no one used torches
>Pikemen didn't fight each other
>no one spoke French during the French revolution
>no one spoke Latin during the Roman Republic
>battle of Zama didn't happen
>Romans carried one pilum
>Vikings weren't real
>berserkers weren't real
>climate change isn't real
>stagnant social mobility isn't real
>castles were defended by three soldiers
>butted mail is better than riveted mail
>operation market garden was a success
>Napoleon was literally Hitler
>The Churchill was the best tank in WWII
>The English won the Hundreds Years' War
>british naval guns on Malta could lanuch projectiles into space

>he's just a guy who likes history as a hobby
>this post is brought to you by the great courses, but more on that later

Lloyd is the most entertaining force in historical plebeian videos on YT, it's true.

Only the vulgar French would condemn him.

well that's one of life's motifs that to say is simply a redundancy

Yes? He's basically the Fox News of History. It's Infotainment.

The point being it stops being a hobby when he regularly gets paid for it.

Because his analysis in those videos is wikipedia-tier, he just repeats the same old lines we all know, theres nothing new or interesting about them.

Some of that isn't true though, he doesn't claim people didn't use mail coifs

"Beserkers" weren't real per se, in the sense that pop culture understands them. They're a device from the sagas.

Do not get your history knowledge solely from Youtubers, please. Keep in mind such a format encourages video-makers to come as controversial, funny and/or gimmicky and any scholar content might be eroded, if not lost, in such adjustments.

Books and peer-reviewed papers exist for a reason.

>implying

He's bad, but not as cancerous as "Real Crusades" History".

>no one used horses
Source? I can't imagine someone someone thinking that.

Meh I appreciate the channel.

FUCK SALADIN AMD FUCK ARAB PEOPLE

He said that when horses came into use they were a stupid idea, but would prove to revolutionize warfare. He points that maybe tactics that sound stupid today may actually be efficient if people try it. Kiddies got triggered at the title of the video and didn't even watch it.

Climate change isn't real. It was -21c here yesterday in the middle of fucking march.

Free market Sir Homosexual.

For the people who did watch it, it's still pretty cringy and stupid, and seems predicated on the notion that the only reason someone would want to "ride a horse into battle" would be in a shock/melee role

I mean for fuck's sake, one of his objections is

>If you're on a horse, and your friends are on foot, you'll plunge into the enemy before any of your comrades do.

>shits on cavalry
>the french are known for their cavalry

The eternal anglo strikes again.
