Why wouldn't they? Average ethnic Turk birthrate is like 1.5, which is 25% below replacement level. This means that the number of ethnic Turks would decrease by 25% each generation.

Meanwhile, number of ethnic Kurds increases by 200% per generation.

It's simply mathematics: say there are 60 million Turks and 20 million Kurds:

After one generation, there would be 45 million Turks and 40 million Kurds. The number of people in total would have only changed by 5 million, but the proportions are totally different.
