Fucking university ruined my dreams. I tried, like an idiot, to take a bunch of math courses my sophomore year that were way, way over my head with a bunch of PhD students because I was deluded into thinking "If I study enough, I'll be able to pass it no matter how hard it is" and did terribly, even though it was an Ivy League school. Then it was all kind of downhill from there. Ended up with a 3.1 GPA but thankfully some actuarial company hired me. Got in trouble for cheating on a math homework assignment by looking up an answer online too. I'd never get into a good graduate school.

Realized my junior year I needed to find some way of making money because I got married right after college and knew it even then and so here I am. Fuck all of this.

im happy with my salary and 12 hr shifts 5 days a week are fine

What I really want to do is make just enough to be able to quit and only work a part time job for my life. It's not exactly retiring, though that would be even better, but having enough money saved that I can work part time and go without a job for a while without too much harm. If I get some nice qualifications along the way, this might be feasible.

That would allow me to travel around working part time jobs, with my wife, and pursue jobs related to any interests I have. Follow my dreams kind of, without being too reliant on money.

Living the dream

experimental work is even worse. you do the same shit for weeks. if you don't get the result you want you make a minor change and continue doing the same shit for a few more weeks, and then repeat ad nauseum.

A loser (NEET)

Also wanted to become a musician.

For years. I took 16 years of piano lessons, 13 years of clarinet, 8 years of saxophone, 4 years of organ, and 5 years of guitar lessons.

Now I work in a cubicle staring at excel sheets all day dreaming to retire.

Please end me. I just need to make it big on something, just one thing, and I can end this.

Close enough

I actually kind of wish I could be a police officer instead of working in this cubicle.

Like I said above, and I know it sounds kind of dumb, but one day when I have enough money I want to just quit my desk job and start looking for other jobs like this that are interesting or kind of exciting, but without worrying about the money.

I know being a police officer requires training and can be very dangerous but it's jobs like that which seem more interesting and exciting than wasting my life away at a desk with Excel all day.

I just want to have enough money that I can quit and take on a more interesting, but possibly worse paying, job in my life.

Lmao

Bro, with a master degree you are still not a scientist. You just took the first step.
