BTC has ony gone up in the past month or so, so BAY would have actually plateaued or decreased in price if the intrinsic value of BAY never changed.

The price of BAY/BTC is increasing, therefor BAY has to be increasing at a rate greater than that of BTC. It's literal 3rd grade fractions.
