Let's have an ottoman thread

Let's have an ottoman thread.
What did the ottomans do wrong in their later half of existence and how could they have industrialized ?

>What did the ottomans do wrong

They existed.

Fuck off.

The fact they controlled Egypt for centuries and never dug the Suez Canal is mindbogglingly stupid.

>"they could have never known it would be useful..."

Bull-fucking-shit, the Venetians had plans to dig a Suez Canal in the 1500s (pre-Ottoman Egypt), and the Ottomans expressly forbade them from doing it, so they certainly knew about the concept.

The brits dug it to get to india faster why would the ottomans want to do that when they could just go over arabia?

Stay mad, Mehmet.

>Ottoman thread
>post-turkposter era
it's just not the same

leave Veeky Forums fucking mountain turk, stop ruining every thread with your biji butthurt diaspora retardness...

To charge the Bongs (and whomever else) huge amounts of money to use it.

>Spaniards prove that sailing to Asia is possible by crossing the Atlantic
>"Pft, nobody will ever use that." - Ottomans
>Various Europeans try to find a Northwest Passage to Asia
>"Pft, nobody will ever use that." - Ottomans
>Russians march across Siberia to access the Orient directly
>"Pft, nobody will actually use that." - Ottomans

Turks are not a people renowned for their towering intellect.
