even that statement isnt completely accurate. Arabization was mostly cultural; genetic mixture was not insignificant but not huge either. And most minority groups like Christians have no arab genetic mixture and dont look that different from the majority.

because imo portrayal of religious ficures isn't about realistic depiction, but instead simpathy for them and their events. Expecially for Jesus, making him your own race would make you feel more compassion when you say that died for our sins

Unless there was a specific need to stress someones origins, various figures of history, culture and religion were often decipted as what the artist saw in real life - people around him. Chances are your average artist didn't see any other people in his life.
