Why does this little island trigger China so hard?

Why does this little island trigger China so hard?

>CHinese communists take every part of CHina except Taiwan
>Taiwan is the last seat of chinese culture
>Taiwan calls itself China, since it is, after all, the chinese government in exile
>Communist China is butthurt

imagine if the Confederacy ran Cuba

Because Taiwan is lowkey the real China.

More like imagine the Confederacy ran Cuba and brought southern culture with it, while the North essentially destroyed southern culture and replaced it with shitty northern materialist bullshit.

Still a pretty good way to put it if you don't know much about the situation.

Is Taiwan still traditional? What do they do that mainland Chinese don't anymore?

No, imagine if the Confederacy won, and the Union moved to Long Island.

I live in NJ, I would fucking kill to get rid of the current long Islanders

>Southerners known for squandering wealth on materialist things throughout history
>Projects by calling blaming others in our precious Union

wouldn't we all m8, wouldn't we all...

Taiwanese are more open and trusting, less rude, generally nicer, and all of that. They are also less likely to bottle up their feelings, and do not live under nearly as strict social norms as mainland chinks do. They are also more spiritual.

Taiwan is anything but traditionally Chinese. They've thrown out their cultural heritage to embrace Western and Japanese customs, just like every other capitalist country in Asia.

Communists destroying culture is nothing but a meme. Capitalist regimes, whether liberal or nationalist, have overseen the greatest loss of heritage in recorded history. There's a reason why Marx illustrated the aggression of capital as every Chinese wall being battered down.

>Communists destroying culture is nothing but a meme.

So why did the Soviets work to destrpy so many aspects of Russian culture, such as Orthodox cathedrals and Cassock culture?

>Communists destroying culture is nothing but a meme
Shut the fuck up, revisionist. Jiang Qing orchestrated the destruction of Chinese art, opera and literature.
During 1966-74, 124 novels were published. Out of a population of 500 million. 124.

The communists literally tried to change the fucking week because the days names have a religious meaning

Religion and its associated traditions were considered a threat to the professed atheism of the Soviet regime. As such, religion was discouraged and at various points suppressed.

But why is this considered a great injustice while the secularization of Western Europe is considered an inevitable development? The triumph of liberal capitalism, with the United States serving as its avant garde, eradicated those traditions and identities not compatible with the modern economy.

To the liberal, culture is only valuable if destroyed by forces other than the inevitable homogenization by the world's bourgeoisie.

>Taiwan is the last seat of chinese culture
What about Hong Kong? Or the Southeast Asian diaspora communities in Singapore and British Malaya?

domino theory...let Taiwan go then Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet, Manchuria, etc all start trying (harder) to go.

Kill yourself, commie

Taiwan will eventually be reabsorbed, voluntarily.

Soon.

Because when it happened in Western Europe, it brought progress with it. The Soviet or Chinese cultural revolutions on the other hand were committed by Mao and Stalin/Lenin who were crazy dictators who killed millions.

Ok, Jinping.

Oh shit, we have the fifty cent party in the house.

Good. This is the only way to defeat China. A war will only make them immigrate around the world. It would be like a flood of chinks, speeding up the process of the chinkification of the planet.

Balkanising China is the only option we have.

because it has the only legitimate claim to Chinese culture

+ ยข10

>Balkanizing China
China has been split up many times before. See the Warring States Period, the Three Kingdoms Period, the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, the warlordism during the Republic era. It never stuck, China always reunified in the end. Unlike the Roman Empire which collapsed and died and stayed dead.

china is a large solution, it can get broken up by reactants, but enough remains to keep it going

that being said, only taiwan is proper china

mainland china is lead by a foreign ideal that supplanted the native culture

>Taiwan
>run by the Kuomintang
>literally the Nationalist party
>the party of nationalism
>a foreign ideology

Because it is the site of the rightful government of China, and a reminder to them of the illegitimacy of their wrongful government.

If I became a living god tomorrow, one of my projects would be to co-operate with the serious Taiwanese government, to re-install and forcibly impose upon the Chinese people, their correct government, and to destory the Chinese Communist Party.

Yet they also raised the quality of life enormously, industrialized their feudal economies, raised the life expectancy, and oversaw never-before-seen changes in literacy and infant mortality...

Taiwan is in no way more legitimate than the PROC

All that's easy if you're allowed to starve half the population to death

Imagine if the confederates took over Cuba and still existed during WW2

Not with The Donald in the White House, I think he's crazy enough to go to war over Taiwan.

Here's a quick rundown

>chinese people all taught about century of humiliation
>taught that division means weakness
>(((coincidentally))) this means political division or dissent against the CCP is also weakness
>Taught that whitey is out to get them and taiwan is a tool of America against glorious china

I'm a 1.5 gen chink and I don't give a shit about taiwan. I don't see how its independence is a threat to the chinese people, only the CCP. Chinks should learn from anglos and their le special bonds desu.

>(((coincidentally)))
wtf does China have to do with Israel
The Chinese are already happy merchants of the Far East enough on their own

To some extent yes but they also maintain

>traditional chinese
>buddhism and taoism
>many of the people who fled to taiwan brought martial arts and shit with them

The younger generation are just degenerate weebs and kendall jenner lovers though, but that is not unique to taiwan. The US has succeeded in making degeneracy the object of worship around the world.

(You)

im just ising it in a very loose sense ie rubbing hands

He'll listen to Mattis. Mattis is a smart man, he knows what he's doing.

And yet China lags behind Taiwan, North Korea lags behind South Korea, the Soviet Union choked on its own reforms and died...

Can confirm. Have never visited properly, but have been in taiwan/beijing airports for 6 hours each time.

Taiwan - superb cheap food, polite, helpful people, good signposting, queues (the non-manchurian sort)

Beijing - Still ok food, english sign for my gate was wrong - ie. there was a sign for gate 7 over gate 6 (I can't fucking understand how that happened since it's mostly a number), people crowding around food areas like chimps, people pushing ahead when waiting for gate, people leaving bags on floor between lines of seats and making no attempt to move them so other people could get by, children crawling underneath rows of seats and shouting, people openly hitting children, etc.

>russia literally demolishes biggest cathedral in russia
>china literally goes on crusade against own historical artefacts and burns/ruins a fuckload
>every other communist regime I can think of, eg Khmer Rouge, Viet Ho Chih Ming, Juche etc has waged a war against traitional customs, dress and history
>North korea continues to not produce cotton, which the region was traditionally known for, because they are so autistic about Japan making them produce it/tradition being bad. They all wear a shitty synthetic fabric supposedly shat out by Kim Il Sung.

You really are retarded.

Last i checked Taiwan's government was elected by chinese and the PROC government was not.

At least not in any meaningful way.

>Why does this little island trigger China so hard?
Funny because its always the Taiwanese who lose their fucking minds when you dare to call them Chinese.

Spotted the chinaman

Flip here, it's true.

Taiwankers are the Ukrainians of East Asia.

I don't think I can explain to you the difference between people voluntarily changing thier beliefs and conduct and the state forcing them by law under penalty of death or worse. I don't think anyone can.

Because the CCP and KMT are existential enemies

>t. Commisar Wang

So the good guys?

Use Traditional Chinese script rather than Simplified

>The year is 2000 A.D. China is entirely occupied by the Communists. Well, not entirely... One small island of indomitable Nationalists still holds out against the invaders.

Pretty much the solid reason why all Communists need to be violently and systematically murdered.

KMT destroyed Taiwan.
True Taiwanese love Japan and hate KMT.
China know 90% Taiwanese want to become Japanese again. Other Taiwanese belong to KMT.

China know Japan easily can take Taiwan again though Japan don't try to.

Because Taiwan are the good guys.

Speak english wang.

>t. 50 cent army

The population grew under Mao, dumbass. China is so huge that the famine amounts to a literal blip on the population graph.

I don't think any socialist state, besides fucking Cambodia, experienced a long-term population decline.

>They've thrown out their cultural heritage
>Communists destroying culture is nothing but a meme
Guarantee you that 90% of the stuff in this museum would not exist today if it hadn't been taken out of the mainland. Bait harder or stop actually being an idiot.

Do you see people wearing traditional clothing in Taiwan or South Korea? Mao had such a raging boner for modernization that he certainly oversaw the destruction of certain cultural traditions, which is absolutely regrettable. However, such cultural traditions have not been preserved by other societies. In fact, many capitalist nations pursued identical policies. South Vietnam was notorious for its Westernizing suppression of native culture, treating the Buddhist religion far more harshly than the godless communist North!

The issue is not that communist states are infallible and innocent, but that capitalist states are not given anywhere near the same degree of scrutiny. This is an example of people who support capitalism being rightfully angry at the decisions of socialist countries while completely ignoring the capitalist countries who do all this and more.

Highly skeptical. China is full of museums of imperial art.

Alright, 90% was admittedly high, but the point was that the red guard went berserk for the purpose of destroying tradition. Also when you have thousands of years of history, there's bound to be plenty of artifacts that survive, but that doesn't necessarily diminish the damage that was done.

ridiculous, any nation can be nationalist, the emergence of its identity is not so much an ideology as it is the evolution of a culture.

communism is not related to this process

Again, I don't deny that Mao did a lot of bad stuff which hurt China's cultural heritage. However, nearly all capitalist countries have also taken great steps to eradicate their own traditions. You just never fucking hear about it.

There's a clear imperialistic bias in pop history, and it bothers me when people on Veeky Forums repeat Cold War propaganda uncritically. This board is usually way better than other sites in recognizing bias in education and mainstream media, but bias against socialist movements is rarely noticed here.

Communism and nationalism are both political movements almost entirely created in the 19th century

The feeling is mutual, bitch.

lol nice whataboutism you fucking dweeb

They basically destroyed Confucius' grave site.

>people who support capitalism being rightfully angry at the decisions of socialist countries while completely ignoring the capitalist countries who do all this and more.
Okay this might be true.
