>Greatest commanders of Spanish military history Ambrogio Spinola and Alessandro Farnesse Duke of Parma: Italian >Greatest commander of French military history Napoleon Bonaparte: Italian >Napoleon's greatest Marshal, Andre Massena: Italian >Greatest commanders of Austrian/HRE military history Eugene of Savoy, Ottavio Piccolomini, Raimondo Montecuccoli, and many others: Italian >Romans >BTFO French medieval knights in a number of challenges >BTFO French in war of Sicilian Vespers >Calabrian peasants give the armies of France the hardest Guerilla war they ever fight, more so than the Peninsular War even What did they mean by this?/WTF I love Italy now
>Italy gets repeatedly BTFO by Austria in WW1 under their Piedmontese Chief of Staff >saved by a Spaniard-Neapolitan who takes command and BTFOs Austria
what did they mean by this.
Oliver Barnes
>Diaz >Not being completely Italian >Spanish sounding surnames >Not being common in Naples

Dont forget the guy who predicted strategic bombing, air warfare, dogfights, and nuclear weapons decades before the tech ever really existed.
Italy also conducted the first air strikes and air attacks in history against the Ottoman Empire. Truly pioneers

Counterargument: WW2
Matthew Lewis
countercounterargument
Italy was economically and technologically unprepared.
Even still, they made rapid advancements that no one has ever seen before and showed daring and bravery not matched by anyone else.
Examples:
The Raid on Alexandria: Italy basically invents navy seals and with a few men on human submarines sinks and destroys a number of British Battleships
The Guerilla War in Ethiopia: A small contingent of Italian holdouts led by Amedeo Guillet, called "the Devil Commander" by the British for his ferocity and that which he inspires in his men constantly harasses and takes on an entire British Army in Africa. Holds out in the mountains until they literally run out of ammunition.
Charge of the Savoia Cavalleria at Izbushensky: On the Eastern Front 700 horse mounted Italians assault and capture 2500 Soviet armored troops, making it the last successful mounted cavalry charge in history.
They also were the only troops to successfully break through the Soviet lines around Stalingrad and in operation little saturn.
How they performed relative to what they were fighting with is almost beyond belief and is truly a testament to the natural fighting spirit of the Italian, even if the average Italian doesnt "fall in line" so well.
Rommel even considered Italian troops assigned to him to be better than German troops.
Jaxon Evans
this is the first time I ever see someone saying Massena was the goat Napoleonic Marshal
none of those niggas got shit on Bernadotte cucker of swedes
Brody Turner
>implying south italians are not our rapebabies face it luigi, we owned you and we created you
Ayden Martin
Southern Italians tend to share more culturally with Spain than the rest of Italy I would say...
More manly macho culture. Linguistically. Culinarily.
Adam Baker
Bernadotte was definitely not a great Marshal. He was just a schemer
Aiden Ortiz
Please take Terronia back in that case. We don't want it.
Juan Flores
>Southern Italians >Not being the last vestiges of honorable manhood and virtue left in Italy
Zachary Mitchell
Sorry I didn't get past "italian_flag.gif" without bursting out laughing
Luke Myers
>thread derails into north vs south
wew
Dylan Ross
They can be all "honorable and manly" as they want with their Spanish brothers.
Lucas Butler
Massena was brilliant during the Revolutionary Wars and the only reason that France wasnt invaded during the 2nd one.
At the earlier Napoleonic Wars he was the one who would handle the secondary fronts, while Nappy took care of the main theatre. Davout or Lannes are usually considered the best of the marshals, but they always only commanded under Napoleon, not as independent generals.-
Massenas legacy was sullied a bit by his average performance in 1809 and then having to handle the Peninsular shitshow for some time- But if he had retired earlier, he surely would have been the best of the marshals
Ian Harris
What are you implying about Eugene? The guy was Italian. Check his lineage
Lucas Smith
Except his predictions about their implications were all wrong. He thought it would end infantry combat. also >implying there were dogfights in wwi
Benjamin Allen
What he got right far outweighed some slightly strange theories he got wrong. Dont be goons.
Brody Mitchell
His whole thesis was that strategic bombing was THE future of warfare. And like pretty much everyone else whoever said X is THE future of warfare, he was wrong.
Jacob Garcia
I think you could reasonably chalk the shadow that nuclear weapons cast over every facet of modern day strategy and warfare and international relations in general as a manifestation of what he was talking about.
Ryan Morris
No envious nordcuck will ever want to admit it, but the people of the Italian peninsula have more accomplishments than any other, from ancient to modern times. They make up bullshit about modern Italians not being the same as the ancient Romans, yet genetic studies prove the exact opposite.
Justin Peterson
Why do you think Northern Europeans look down on Italians so much.
Ayden Thomas
>cucker of swedes Thats not really an achievement these days
Xavier Rogers
Italians look down on Northern Europeans just as much. Everyone looks down on everyone in the real world.
Nathaniel Richardson
lowkey, if Italy was divided between north (Padania) and south (Terronia) then the north would be just like France, complete with weekly terror attacks, makeshift Muslim cities and everything. Southern Italy would be like Greece.
Parker Howard
>muh Padania
The economic and developmental divide doesn't exist between north and central Italy, only south.
Jace Nguyen
I thought Euros were suppose to be rich compared to the states lol.
>Even still, they made rapid advancements that no one has ever seen before and showed daring and bravery not matched by anyone else. top kek
counterargument: ha ha ha half that shit is made up
Jaxson Myers
It's an Italian shitposting thread. They'll spend about five minutes arguing why their shit performances in the world wars are ok because reasons and then turn on each other like the spaghetti-eating rats they are. Which is, ironically, part of why they did so bad in the world wars.
Michael Mitchell
>Italians look down on Northern Europeans lol
Tyler Gonzalez
He was Italic. That's undeniable.
Julian Powell
>we wuz poor and irrelvant for 99% of our history but we're the mustard rayce now because we're slightly richer than Meds
Jonathan Butler
>>we wuz poor and irrelvant for 99% of our history So Italians?
Nathaniel Brown
He was Corsican and French. Italy needs to stop being so desperate for real history that they steal other people's lol
