>Think about how there are infinite universes
>Realize there's one where Rome didn't fall

>think about space
>feel good

Which Rome? The early egalitarian Rome or the unsustainable Rome held up by conquest and slavery?

why would it make you depressed?
The fact that you'll never see it for yourself?
The sheer size of it?
I think space is rather neat, I hope in my next life space travel is a more accessible thing.

Which ever Rome you want.

...

It's spooky that even with how utterly rare it is to find sentient life in the universe that there still HAS to be several million intelligent alien species out there.

I wonder what they're doing right now.

Probably shitposting on their internet. And among a species that communicates via airborne chemicals it's literal shit posting.

> mfw I get to live in the best period of human history that future people can only dream of

feels good

I think about the 19th century, and how I could be playing pool at the hall in town with the lads from the carriage making company. Instead I find myself wasting my time posting on this lonely medium, filled with vitriolic negativity, and void of real human presence.

Not being able to experience it all. We will probably never know what's on the other side of a black hole in our life, the origin of the universe, is there other life?

You also live in the distant future that countless generations spent their lives building towards.

If we advance to that level of technology we will be able to create shell worlds for those who miss the old days or we might live in a virtual world or millions of rotating habitats tailored to every fancy. Stop being so negative about the awesome future you will never get to see.

we're probably gonna fizzle out before we even get close to perpetuating our species in space, so I saw ride the roller coaster while its still open. Not even being a downer b/c
>muh WW3
that's just the most likely scenario to me, based on all the presented models i've looked at.

We are also one of the most important generations that will ever exist. Previous generations didn't have the choice to colonize space. Later generations either won't have the means to do it or to stop it. We specifically are the ones who will decide whether humanity survives for one hundred thousand years or one trillion years.

>tfw we'll get next to no say in it either

>think about space
>get scared

weakling, your kind will not traverse the galaxy

We are literally in space

...

Real talk, why bother exploring space when VR will be indistinguishable from reality before we have the technology to leave the Solar System?

No offense, but you are too small minded.

I'll show you a trick user.

Put your finger and thumb a few centimeters apart. Imagine there's a point at your thumb and another at your finger. Now imagine a point halfway between those 2 points. Now imagine another point beteen that new point. Keep halving it in this way until you can't do it anymore.

What does it show? You could do this forever and never reach the end. Between any 2 points there is an infinity of points. So even between your thumb and finger there is infinity itself! How can you bemoan the size of the universe when there are as many points between here and the end of space as there is between your little fingers? Size is illusion, don't worry about it.

What the fuck is that meant to do you self righteous shit?

>self righteous

I don't think you know what that phrase means

It shows there's no reason to be depressed when thinking about space.

zeno pls go

>think about space
>get comfy

>not wanting to know everything

>when you realize life in zero g makes your eyeballs start to slowly deform and you go blind

>when you realize there will never be any fuel energy-dense enough to make space travel cheap and common

>when you realize there will never be a good reactionless drive due to the extremely high, theoretical energy requirements to make even a tiny gnat-sized amount of force

>when you realize even with a magic engine, the time required to get anywhere means we will always be bound to our solar system

>when you realize that, given magic engine technology, any space ship then becomes an apocalyptic relativistic-speed unstoppable missile and you will never be free to own or operate any craft, which will be like a nuclear bomb times a billion in terms of risk

Spice my dude

Rotating habitats and photon propulsion nigga

>tfw you realise light speed is slow as fuck universally speaking

How is that related?

>think about space
>become relieved and reassured that my fuckups are meaningless in context of the grand scope of the cosmos and the sheer breadth of human existence

There are enough BONES in the human body to provide for a fully grown SSKKEELLEETTOONN

>>Think about how there are infinite universes

Not proven afaik.

There might be infinite universes but we don't know for sure.

>there's anything except right now

Never say never fucker

>realize that once you die, everyone dies with you as there is nothing for the lack of you to perceive, so time happens all at once or not at all; there's no perspective to differentiate between the eons that pass

feelsgood, feelsbad

>Forgets that Rome was the first major civilized nation to outlaw slavery and provide universal citizenship.

>not able to talk like a normal person

Try a whole sentence next time.

>he gets depressed
>he is not depressed for years so he still know what it feels to be not depressed

I want normans leave.

There's no reason you wouldn't be able to enjoy the hardships of space exploration within the simulation. The experience would be as "real" as we are, because it would be impossible for you to tell the difference.

>tfw capitalism will ruin the world before socialism can bring about space exploration.

Truly a sad thought

A black hole would crush you so fast and you would burn so rapidly that you wouldn't have the time to feel anything.

You are the small minded one. The velocity of light is a hard limit to any dream of serious space exploration.

Building an earth sized supercomputer that can simulate that for us is much easier.

>Gain immortality with eternal youth
>Live through centuries, thousands of years
>Witness rises and falls of human civilizations and space colonies, aliums
>Live through millions of years
>Humanity evolves into second level
>Explore everything, alone
>Eventually it gets boring and you want to die
>Try to hero
>Nope, still immorality no matter how
>Live though billions of years, star systems collapse and the Sun dies
>Well ok
>Live through trillions of years
>Universe begings to fall apart
>And we're not even close

Fucking heat death

What the fuck are you talking about? Rome, even when it was Christian, was a slave society down to its core. Christianity and slavery have never been opposed.

>think about depression
>get spaced
