Today when we talk about Dystopian world we still think about big totalitarian states and total power over free thinking... But isn't western society in 2017 basically a capitalist dystopia? We are obsessed by brands, material possesion, big things and so on. People literally sell their body for this. We are exposed to people showing off and debauchery all day long and we are basically desensitized to a bit of everything. We are obsessed by material wealth. Isn't a world in which people go to do porn and sell their body for being famous a Dystopian world?

In an eighty year life time you will accumulate roughly 2,524,554,080 seconds.

Roughly 633,760 years. Meaning that if you had a magic machine that printed legal tender at a dollar bill a second it would take you longer than all of human history to pay off that debt.
That's one hell if a lot of debt, and pretty damn dystopian if you ask me.

When people do the whole "1984 is a communist distopia while BNW is a capitalist distopia" they ignore a lot about BNW.
BNW featured a totalitarian one world government that controlled every aspect of your life through positive rather than negative reinforcement. As far as I could see everyone is an employee of the government and there's no real private enterprise. More importantly, the foundation of BNW's world is eugenics, something I never see discussed in comparisons of BNW and 1984. I'd say BNW is more of an early 20th century progressive distopia than anything else.
