I know i will be shitted on for this but i like Assassin's Creed games for historical immersion they provide. The design of cities is top-notch and you can learn a lot about various historical events and characters if you pay attention. Black Flag taught me so much about the Golden Age of Piracy and pirates like Thatch, Hornigold, Roberts and others.

Is it not fucking obvious?

Ahh, the daily Veeky Forums vidiya thread.
How the fuck didn't you get what you are looking for in any of the previous 100 threads, there is always the same 20 games going around these threads, you are not gonna get anything new from this

What are you gonna do about it faggot

Im just gonna bitch about it apparently, not much i can do really

I think that Alea Jacta Est is the only very accurate and in depth one. Some total war mods are okay too, but most history games play to the rule of cool too much to be immersive.

I don't see the appeal of Kaiserreich. Is it just for scrubs who found that blobbing Germany was too hard in a historical setting, and wanted to cripple the opposition?

It's basically an autists wet dream packed into a reverse WW2, with a Syndicalist France attacking Germany

Kind of the opposite, Germany is actually pretty weak and over-stretched. But afaik, the reason it was created was to facilitate multiplayer games with more diversity. In vanilla HoI, if you're not playing Germany, the USSR or Britain, the game is basically a snorefest where you can't do anything of interest. In Kaisereich, there are many playable factions who can achieve interesting results. Hell, it even makes the USA playable by giving it a whole "second civil war" event chain to keep you interested during the boring, boring, BORING buildup to Pearl Harbour that is the American player's lot in vanilla.

i played as Mexico, and it was the funnest i've ever had playing a paradox game

>president pancho villa dies
>far right militaristic government takes over
>U.S. erupts into civil war
>get event asking whether i want to attack weakened U.S. and take back Arizona, and New Mexico
>YES!
>after that declare war on southern states
>take back Texas
>then declare war on Pacific states
>take back colorado, Utah, and Nevada
>have to wait a few years to take California
>decide to invade Central America
>take all former territories
>after truce is over invade, and retake California
>MEXICAN EMPIRE IS REBORN!!!

also my campaign with Pyotr Wrangel as the Russian Tsar and reconquering all former lands was fun as hell

Exactly. Now try Mexico in vanilla HoI and let us know how much fun you have watching the map change color at max speed because you literally can't do ANYTHING of note.

Red Orchestra 2

Kaiserreich is really quite terrible in multiplayer without a gorillian house rules and it's just a meme interpretation of the alternate history. The game breaks down by 1939.

If anything, Black Ice would be Veeky Forums related.

Well, in vanilla HoI you start with an army and the US does not...

You can kill anyone you want in vanilla HoI4 very easily by just spamming 14/4 inf/arty divisions and pushing. Just go industrial efforts first on Mexico, flip facist and grab partial while you exercise with 1 division until you've got enough divisions.

Modern day mod is pretty fun when your monarchist poland

what was your greatest feat in any HOI?

either
>Poland taking Berlin
or
>USSR capturing all of Japan, East China and reaching down to the Philippines and New Guinea

I was always pleased about nuking Washington as Argentina.

>Hearts of Iron

I have tried CK2 and failed at it miserably; can I get into Hearts of Iron or Victoria II?

>Victoria II
Do you like staring at screens upon screens of numbers and sliders? then it's for you
>Hearts of Iron
After 4 it's a complete joke to play, so right up your alley

My favorite recent campaign was a Japan one in HOI3 Black Ice. Tedious as fuck, especially the constant island hopping at first, then the holding back of endless waves of American marines while I finished off the last British remnants in Asia. I secured all the way to Iran and built up before really trying to attack the US. But when I started invading North America through Alaska is when the fun REALLY started. It was supply hell. I BTFO the American fleet multiple times and pretty much blockaded the entire Pacific, closed the Panama Canal, and they still managed to throw endless waves of ships at me, who had to sail all to way down South America before reaching me.

Then I secured a few stable ways to get supplies in Alaska, slowly made my way down through Canada. Thankfully the Germans, Italians and even the Vichy French did surprisingly well, so the AI was a bit distracted. But once I reached Oregon, the American human waves never stopped. They were taking 10 times the number of casualties I did, but they still managed to wear me down. At least I had all of Asia as a manpower pool. By 1947 I was only reaching Texas. Island hopped in the Carabean, launched another attack in Louisiana and Florida, started blockading the East Coast, managed to reach Eastern Canada, and that's when they started to break slightly. I nuked Chicago, D.C and New York, and then I stoppped playing. The whole time I had Japanese propaganda and military songs blasting in my ears, it was great. Hearing "YUKI NO SHINGUN KOORI O FUNDE" while finally taking Anchorage on the third try in November after a 4 months battle in a almost year long Alaskan campaign and hundreds of thousands of casualties on my side made it all worth it.

Unironically this. While the gameplay isn't always the greatest, the level of detail in regards to the historiography of playable cities is astoundingly good.

Try CKII again, it's the best of the series imo. Play as Venice or as an Irish Count, you'll find it much easier to stay afloat in the early game.

HoI 2 is the best of the HoI games. Victoria is a spreadsheet game, if you love numbers you might enjoy it but I for one found it mind-shatteringly tedious.

You also start unable to declare war. By the time you've shifted the sliders enough to do so, America will have spammed forty billion infantry units.

>HoI4

Well, THERE'S your problem right there.

>ctrl+F
>No mention of Diplomacy
For shame

How do i into vicII? I have experience in EU4, CKII and stellaris but i cant for the life of me grasp vicII. Can someone link me a tutorial or something?

Build liquor factories. That's it, there's no other trick to it. Build nothing nut liquor factories and you will be swimming in cash in no time, the economic model Vicky uses is broken af.

Makes me want to go back and play HOI3 again.

If the central powers won WWI, why would there be WWII?
As in, whats the premise behind Kaiserreich even being an unstable setting about to explode?

Syndicalist gobunnism, revanchism and German inability to inflict a crushing blow to England.

and for some reason there are three way civil wars everywhere

Yes, commies vs reactionary monarchists or some flavor of fascism vs status quo conservative governments

Are you talking about HoI4? I had a pretty fun game with it playing as a SocDem Russia.

...

I'm playing Attila Total War for the first time and I am in love with it.

I'm playing as ERE and the feeling of starting out powerful and slowly having everything striped away from you as you are beset on all sides is incredible and I can't get enough.

There's a hobby you might be interested in user, it's called "cuckolding"

Also you can play as the Ungern von Stenrbeg aka The Mad Baron and Make Mongolia Great Again

Not really. Playing as a resurgent Russia or communist France is way more fun.

>If the central powers won WWI, why would there be WWII?

What? Are you really this thick or are you just pretending?
>France is humiliated and loses alscase-Lorraine
>HURR y would france start a new war when it lost da lasd one!!!11

>If the central powers won WWI, why would there be WWII?
The Central Powers would have all the problems the Entente had in real life, without the resources available to the Entente. Any German victory would be slim to the point of being a fluke, they could hardly enforce a treaty that suppresses France or Britain particularly harshly.

God dammit I just can't stop playing this fucking game.

Because is funny. Also commie power trip.

Because whole France was outnumbered even by neutered Germany. Now you have neutered France against the German empire.

Try CK2 again or pick based on your favorite time period. I play them all infrequently, but then I'm a modder who piggybacks larger mods to fix the retardation that is V2's economy and HoI3's resource system.

Age of Empires 2 (and expansions). God damn those campaigns are god tier

>The Lion and The Demon
>Pax Mongolia
>The Boiling Lake
>The Emperor Sleeping
>Reconquista
>The Scourge of God, A Barbarian Betrothal and The Fall of Rome

God tier

Played a game of Victoria 2 with the HPM mod where I played the Massina empire, conquered Dendi, Mossi and Bambara and formed the Toucouleur empire. Went on to become the 4th most powerful nation after eating up most of west Africa and then colonizing the fuck out of the Central Africa (almost got Somalia but the fucking British took it).

Eventually decided to crush one of the other empires so I focused on Soviet Russia. Got a great alliance with Germany and Fascist Italy and crushed the Soviets in a massive war and dismantled them. Took nothing personally but it boosted me through the roof. Only USA, UK and Germany were stronger than me at end game.

Any of you play the browser game Call of War? Sort of a mixture of Risk to HoI with between 2 to 100 players trying to take the world.

In Vic2 my favourite game was making a anarcho-capitalist paradise from Russia. Managed to get so high industrial power, it was 50% more than even UK or Germany. However, the downside was 1 million-people rebellions spamming every year all over the country.

...

Gotta mention the Age of Chivalry: Hegemony total conversion for AoE2. It focuses on western and central Europe and aims for more depth and historical accuracy.

this is a myth desu

start with two sicilies and unify Italy, you'll slowly learn all the mechanics, don't worry about all the numbers at first just keep good income and don't be afraid to fuck up,

It's the opposite. Germany is actually underpowered because they get completely fucked by the Great Depression - in KR, Black Tuesday is Black Monday and hits the Berlin Stock Exchange instead. It's overextended and its allies are weak. The resurgence of communism aka Syndicalism usually ends up fucking it over. Actually KR is more of a Socialist wet dream than anything.

NationStates

Saying "any HOI" makes the whole thing pointless since HOI4 is insanely easy. The AI is so dumb and constantly leaves holes in their lines and shuffles units between fronts for no reason. It's also braindead and never responds to being cut off, nor does it try and cut you off most of the time.

So as a result you can play as Poland and just beeline to Berlin once the AI gives you an opening, ending the war with Polish victory in 1939. Literally just ride a Cavalry division over there and win. Or you can play as Ethiopia and make Italy capitulate before WW2 even begins by abusing the retarded naval landing AI. I once played as Nepal and conquered the entire Old World (couldn't be bothered to naval invade America) by abusing puppets. One guy played Mongolia using Cavalry only and succeeded, restoring the former borders of the Mongolian empire and conquering Japan as well.

>Or you can play as Ethiopia and make Italy capitulate before WW2 even begins

Errr.... ??? The only way to survive as Ethiopia is to barricade yourself in the mountain fort and wait for YEARS until Italy fucks off to defend its mainland territory from the British.

>he couldn't even outflank the Italians in HOI4

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL learn to supply lines + encirclement you fucking scrub

Haha, yeah, no. You can easily cut off the divisions in Somaliland by waiting for them to shuffle around and exploiting weaknesses in their lines. Then you just take the ports to strangle their supply, and annihilate them at your leisure. Then just park your units on the ports. The Italians will then proceed to perform naval landings either directly against your ports thus killing themselves, or into provinces where they have no supply, thus starving then killing themselves. All you need to do then is spam paratroopers and with some luck you can take Rome.

Yea, I liked the first three. The first two were amazing to me. Like the other guy said, the gameplay wasn't the best. But it was awesome to just stroll around in medieval Antioch or Renaissance Italy. I loved them.

Conquering the world as communist Iran.

Eesti stronk! Eesti take over Soviet Union!
