How come none of these guys ever tried colonizing Australia?

Why would they? Nothing of value

Why didn't everyone just colonise everywhere?

Bear in mind that the north of Australia is pretty uninhabitable. Most anybody who sailed over there from Southeast Asia would find it complete shit and either die or decide it's not worth colonising.

SEA Javanese here, for us its because superstition, we belief the the southern sea is a guarded by a goddess: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyai_Roro_Kidul and thus its forbidden for us to enter as the land beyond is considered the realm of beasts and demons, basically its considered the edge of the world

Now that I think about it, the demons and beasts probably refer to Aborigines and Australian wildlife kek

this is sort of true I guess since the south seas are very rough and the reefs are a major danger for any ship, let alone smaller ones not designed of the open ocean.

and northern Australia is desolate as fuck and full of ooga boogas.

In this case the demons are the wildlife and the beast are the abos.

Why would they bother exploring other lands when they straddle the most strategic locale in maritime trade? They have ships from Persia, India, China, and other rich civilizations passing by as well as stopping to trade. They possess lush lands full of tropical resources (spices, woods, etc.) as well as being able to grow rice several times a year.

I've always wondered a scenario where the Taungoo Dynasty (they managed to briefly have the largest empire in SE Asia) conquer all the land of that region. They'd be incredibly rich as fuck and would be on par with Rome, Persia, India, China, and the Islamic caliphates.

Australia was useless for most of history due to how much a pain in the ass it was to trade with it due to its remoteness from the rest of the world.

Not to mention jungle asians wouldnt like the desert cilmate of Australia either.

the british literally only colonised australia to establish a power base near the east indies

1. Australia was too remote.
2. Abos had nothing valuable to trade with, and their population was too small and scattered to get any benefit out of trading with or enslaving them.
3. The land was too hot except along the northern coasts.
4. There was not enough rainfall except the northern coasts as well.
5. They couldn't muster enough people to establish colonies in Australia.
6. Australia's valuable resources like gold are further south in the arid, inhospitable regions. Most the stuff in the north is just coal, and SA empires had little to no use for that.
7. The SA nations weren't overcrowded at the time, so had no need to look for other lands.
8. Their sailing technology wasn't advanced enough to make traveling between their nations and Australia worthwhile. The lack of valuable resources in northern Australia also played into this.
9. The prevailing winds between Australia and Indonesia would have blown people off course too often, or the strong waves around Australia would have pulled them to the inhospitable regions.
10. Since the people of SA lived on islands, the temperatures they were used to weren't as extreme as Australia's. Crops were also easier to grow, and people had easy access to fish. In Australia, the Abos had to hunt bigger creatures for food. Supposedly, they also had better weapons than the Polynesians did (not sure about SA's though), so armed conflicts would have probably ended in the Abos' favor more often than not.
11. Many SA probably underestimated the size of Australia and assumed it was another island in the Malay Archipelago.

Theres loads of free land for you to stick any trouble elements it is politically problematic to outright kill or banish.

In the case of the Philippines and Indonesia (being island nations) i would think the free land would be enough.

It's because as a race Asians are generally reserved, cowardly and shy from adventure.

Europeans have been doing it since classical greece at least, probably earlier. We've been colonising everywhere we could reach.

Semitics too, to some extent.

>Why would they bother exploring other lands when they straddle the most strategic locale in maritime trade?

This would be a valid argument if everyone followed that pattern but Greeks being where they were thought it necessary to up and colonize southern France, Spain and fucking Crimea.

Australia has plenty of climates from rainforest to desert.

pic related is Austronesian people route of migration, they choosed to sail all the way into the pacific and fucking madagascar 2000 yrs ago, yet they avoided australia like a plague despite it being closer.

There were lots of free land to explore in the philippines and indonesia, especially away from the coast. It wasn't overpopulated nor was resources too few. If that was the case there would have been evidence of widespread wars beyond the usual tribal raids

even some african kingdoms had better city than us.

Greece is rather limited in arable land. It's good enough for pasturing, olives, and vines but they had to rely on foreign sources of grain. Plus no town or city is more than 80 miles from the sea. Greece is rugged as fuck which is why land transportation isn't reliable compared to sea transport. There's also no major rivers like other major civilizations (Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, China) to unite the Greeks together as a civilization. Thus the Greeks had to turn to the sea. Their whole country is full of islands and peninsulas.

And unlike SE Asia, they don't possess valuable hardwoods, aromatic plants, spices, immense deposits of minerals like tin and gold, or in-between 2 of the richest civilizations; India and China. Greece had population pressure as well as a cultural outlook that favored exploration and expansion.

It's amazing that island peoples managed to accomplish this in catamarans and not fully-rigged ships. And without compasses and other navigational instruments; it was all through observations of the wind, stars, weather patterns, migration of birds, etc.

Why didn't Greeks colonize Africa?

The Caucasoid race is the master race. Azns and negroids can leave.
