Was he the last Great European leader?

Was he the last Great European leader?

...

Nah. De gaulle was deluded.

>Americans liberate Paris for him
>Pretends in his speech the french resistance did it
>Begs the Americans to leave quickly because they're embarrassing him

He's so easy to laugh at.

>burgers and bongs don't want him to develop nuclear weapons
>want to treat france like an occupied country rather than an ally
>develops France's nuclear arsenal and gets himself an occupation zone in Germany
Funny to think today that France is only behind the US and Russia in their nuclear weapons arsenal.

France wasn't gonna be given an occupation zone originally, until Churchill convinced Truman too. Churchill also convinced Truman to let France have a seat on the NATO security council.

Pretty sad.

Yes
He was against the EU but wanted more cooperation between Europeans to not be swallowed by both Russia and USA like we are now

Nope

America wanted to make like Germany but we BTFO them

Sad!

>America wanted to make like Germany but we BTFO them

What? Learn English.

The whole point is that he took France in its own direction and succeeded. It's why he's so maligned in Britain and the U.S.
Essentially an occupied country with its constitution rewritten by Americans.

>Was he the last Great European leader?
Its hard to say he did many impressive things early on as a leader before utterly messing things up later on.

It would be its accurate to say he was the last great (as is good) authoritarian of Western Europe except he tapped out before Franco

Does Tito count as european?

You guys are misunderstanding the pscyhe of De Gaul and Churchill.

The 3rd republic legally gave power to Petain and the French State. The French state made an armistace with Germany and was awaiting a peace treaty. The French state also declared neutrality in the on going war. It was occupied in the strategic north coast so it could attack england.

England then attacked Nuetral France and sunk the navy. then the US invaded nuetral France so it could sucker punch Germany from behind in Africa.

Then UK and the US bombed the shit out of normandy killing thousands of French citizens.

Then the US and UK invaded neutral france and occupied it. The US set up a military government in France.

All the while de gaul is in england wondering WTF is going on and wondering why the fuck he's sitting with the UK who is waging war on his now neutral country. He thought the UK would seek peace and end the war with in weeks.

Instead he ends up being used the same way Paulus was used by the Soviets. A general giving speechs on the radio to incite partisan attacks.

He realizes that he essentially betrayed the government as the US and UK didnt really give a shit as it was stregically beneficial to ignore French neutrality.

De Gaul's whole attitude towards NATO and the US and UK was one of hatred of the fact that France and himself were used and abused by the allies.

Wannabe petty dictator. If only he had been overthrown in 1968.

Sadly reddit morons will only view and respond to this with stuff like "lol mad frenchie rulez brittania XD"

The Gaul was a populist, good at rousing a defeated people but a petty ruler, he preyed on France's insecurity about their humiliating defeat, refusing NATO's help even though it was in their best interest. Churchill should have done something to sabotage his political career after the war.

>not franco

Maybe they shouldn't of gotten BTFO so fucking hard then.

not as hard as the narsies did

>French State
>Neutral

Vichy french troops fought in North Africa, Italy and the Middle East.

Anyone who didn't say Hitler is a moron. Unless you picked your second best because, naturally, it's understood that Hitler is number one. In which case carry on.

(Just a reminder)

>Declares war on half the world and loses
>Great

US GO HOME

Hitler was the second worst thing that happened to Europe after black death.

Fuck off collabo

Ya but he commie, so not sure.

The discovery of America is the worst thing that ever happened to Europe, closely followed by the French revolution, the Industrial revolution, the Black death, the Mongols and just then comes Adolf.

>Country was reduced to rubble from a previous war they were not the aggressors in
>One man transformed it into the greatest, most feared, and respected country on the planet at the time
>Took on the world after being targeted by international bankers and their host countries, barely losing
>Not great

This is a history forum. Please go to if you want to be an obtuse retard. Thank you.

It was definitely the Jews and Hitler almost saved the world. For shame he lost.

>Country was reduced to rubble from a previous war they were not the aggressors in

ToV Wasn't that harsh. They didn't even have to pay reparations on time after 1923.

>Took on the world after being targeted by international bankers and their host countries, barely losing

He declared war on every single country, except the shitty irrelevant guys like Turkey and Brazil.

There was the ToV, the German Revolution, the inflation, the unemployment, the infrastructure damage, and also the Jews.

>He declared war on every single country, except the shitty irrelevant guys like Turkey and Brazil.

Well, they actually declared war on him. The barter system with Romania was strike three for the internationals, after nationalizing the bank and exiling most other Jews famalam.

>But he invaded Poland
Both him AND Stalin invaded Poland but only Hitler was singled out.

>neoliberalist
>great
lol

They weren't even fighting in Germany. It was in a very good state after the war. France was destroyed, not Germany. Poland was in a worse state.

Treaty of Versailles wasn't that bad and they barely paid anything anyway. I think they stopped paying reparations in 1930 or 1931.

Nazi Germany definitely wasn't the greatest country on the planet. Standard of living was lower than in most Western countries, there were shortages of food, censorship and so on.

>international bankers
This is not /pol/, user. Hitler was a warmonger.

After he attacked Poland. And before that he broke every single treaty and pact. From Versailles to Munich.

>the German Revolution

Meme civil war. Barely any real damage. Germany was already the largest economy in Europe again by 1926,

>the inflation
Ended after the introduction of the Rentenmark.

>the unemployment
Employment was increasing rapidly before Hitler took power thanks to Bruning.

>the infrastructure damage
Germany only had 2 battles take place in its own borders in ww1.

>Well, they actually declared war on him.
After telling him they would if he invaded Poland.

>Both him AND Stalin invaded Poland but only Hitler was singled out.
The Anglo-Polish military alliance stated it was only if germany attacked, not russia.

>Well, they actually declared war on him. The barter system with Romania was strike three for the internationals, after nationalizing the bank and exiling most other Jews famalam.
Oh fuck off, if someone tells you not to do something, and then says the consequence of not doing said thing is war, and you do it anyway you started the fucking war, you can't seriously be arguing fucking Chamberlain was a warmonger.

There were also Weimar golden age, but I guess your Nazi friends forgot to mention it.

They sure were neutral well they let the Germans use Normandy as a basing point to bomb England.

So would British planes bombing Germany from Switzerland make Germany the bad guy for invading neutral Switzerland?
