Are people mememing when they say USSR was bad?
most people i've talked to who lived in the USSR say it definitly wasn't as good as USA but it wasn't bad at all. Most people lived decent lives.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
There were good aspects though, for example you didn't even have to try to be good at life and you were still guaranteed a place to stay, albeit shitty.

It was bad for humanity in general, and definitely worse than the Kerensky government they replaced.

Yes, the old folks who have frost bite from standing in the cold waiting for beets just made shit up.

It's safe to say life was better in USSR than in modern Russia.

It's mostly just leftover CIA propaganda from the Red Scare

Nope, I lived in the Soviet Union through the 80s and it was just shit compared to today, at least now we get jobs that matter

Sure thing

People have nostalgia about the USSR just because the 90s were a next level of shit.

commie go back to /pol/ where you belong

Didn't you know that socialism always leads to mass starvation and breadlines? That's what the economists from the Cato Institute and the libertarian bloggers told me.

It's all about point of view. If I had a successful career, I'd want to live in a society that maximizes success. Since I'm a worthless NEET, is pretty appealing

Of course it was bad. It was an inefficient, bureaucratic and authoritarian regime that had no problem murdering and using people as slave labor.

Now, you can sit in your cushy middle-class suburbia right now and say that the West isn't any better, but I'll never believe you.

>Most people lived decent lives.

Yeah, if they lived

Compared to WWII times maybe, but like said it's mostly nostalgia. And the actual reports depict a very different situation (more like ).

>That's what the economists from the Cato Institute and the libertarian bloggers told me.
>implying it's only them
Bitch, please, everyone worth a shit, so almost everyone except you dumb cunts, recognizes USSR was shit and communism doesn't work. You really need to stop trying to justify your shit ideology and drop it once and for all, so that crap can finally die like it deserves.

>>>>>/leftypol/
And don't come back, you won't be missed.

>communism doesn't work
>lists a state capitalism as an example
making those neurons fire hard today

Communism can't even be implemented. Really says something about it 2bh.

>state capitalism proves socialism doesn't work
read a book please

you don't even know what your talking about

>Everything that disproves my argument is just CAPITALISM
>B-b-but the USSR's equal rights progressivism is us, loooooooooooooool!

communists. collectivism when it's time to shit on capitalism, individualism when it's time to dole out responsibly for your "collective's" fuckups.

Yeah well I haven't read Marx, excuse my dumb ass.

>le "not true communism" meme
Kek. It was communism. And it failed because communism itself is a failure, a retarded ideology for retarded people that can and will never work. Stay mad, it's the truth, and deep down you know it as well.

It was neither of those. It was socialism.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_capitalism

not a tankie , just stop spouting retarded shit

>m-m-muh NEP lol XDDD that means everything is capitalism

t. the classic left com argument

The USSR literally didn't understand Marx
Plus even Lenin stated USSR was state capitalist

This is the inevitable outcome whenever you try to achieve true socialism or communism.

fter the conclusion of the civil war, Lenin proposed a New Economic Policy which was implemented as a form of state capitalism. This was understood and accepted as such by the Bolsheviks as it was believed that Russia was nowhere near the level of development for socialism to be implemented. This would have to wait for the real socialist revolutions in Germany and Britain. However, as it became clear that that wasn't going to happen very soon there was a lot of debate on how to proceed. Meanwhile throughout the 20s the USSR was similar in economic power dynamics to how China is today though without the intensity of industry. Into the 30s, there was a shift towards industrialization which saw a more rigid and centralized power dynamics which led to sharpening contradictions between the industrial workers and the rich peasants which ultimately led to a de facto civil war with the industrial interests prevailing. During this time, the mixed ownership economy of the NEP was reorganized into an almost totally state owned economy. This kind of system lasted until the Lieberman reforms under Khrushchev which saw liberalization and a more diversified ownership system which was reversed slightly under Brezhnev and then re-advanced to the extreme under Gorbachev to the point that the bourgeoisie reemerged and took state power again. Ultimately it is a philosophical point on what exactly is socialism and is it mutually exclusive with any and every form of capitalism. Insofar as the working class having supremacy in governing the state, the USSR was socialist throughout its history until 1989. If socialism necessitates full state ownership of the economy, then the USSR was socialist from 1932 to 1958. If socialism means that there is a fully homogenous form of social ownership and a fully mature democracy in which an educated populace effectively governs itself without wage labor, unequal distribution or other remnants of capitalism, then the USSR was never socialist.

sounds like you've been going on /pol/ too much

Dude, "state capitalism" it's just a retarded term for a phase of the inevitable failure of communism and socialism. It WAS true communism because that's exactly how all communist dictatorships become before crashing or switching more to a functional, not-retarded system like capitalism.

>implying
back to /leftypol/ for you as well, faggot.

> MFW the ancestors of my family from both sides were Mennonite and I see people justifying/defending the Soviet Union
