someone please explain to a brainlet how to mine this shit. Trying to use bfgminer 5.4.2 with a r9 380 4gb to no avail.

you have to give us more details.
This coin uses scrypt algorithm. Did you try mining with a pool?
you mean you tried mining but didn't get anything?
Even with a mining pool, you won't get a reward until there is a block discovered by the pool, and currently it takes forever to mine most blocks, so to get some 4CHN you just have to wait a few days.
I use cuda miner and this is what I get (screenshot related)
But I like to solo mine though. And I haven't mined anything in days. Lol, but when I mine it I will get 50 4CHN.
Still better to just buy them on the exchange right now, but I like to mine to help with the block confirmations
