well i cant speak for my grandparents but they escaped cuba in the 60s to gtfo communism/castro's hellhole, we'd probably go back when it changes, at least i think that was the plan lol. hispanic culture is very rich so i think we like to keep that identity and lifestyle with us in the united states. it's comfortable, plus keeps a legitimate culture while earning a living. the U.S is a free country so i see no problem with being in the U.S and maintaining the culture as long as you follow the laws of the country. i've been through phases where i was ashamed of being hispanic , i won't lie

BUT they also liked batista, so they were all for the revolution supporting castro, but not a violent one (whether that's naive or not isn't the problem). once castro came into power, he started murdering business people without trial, and a group of soldiers took my grandpa's t shirt business away, took control of the tobacco industry and started killing and jailing anyone connected to the businesses, confiscated my grandpa's two large properties, murdered his neighbors, so my grandparents along w my aunts n uncles escaped to jamaica with no money before castro got to them (to this day i think he spared my grandparents cuz he knew my grandma)
